Pretty hard to stop, retro Hibs tops will always be in demand and with no availability from the club people will always find a way to get there hands on sought after tops.

:agree:

If the club want to cash in on the insatiable demand for amazing retro tops they should stop selling poor replicas of old classics and instead focus on the designs for the new first team kits by making a nod to the most popular designs from days gone by.

So rather than the Insave copy they have released this year which is way off what the original is like, they could have put a white band on the front of next years strip and the same classic collar from the 85-87 top. Then a few wee modern tweaks, people would love that I think.

This guy messaged me about the shirt. To be fair they looked pretty good.

They look far better than the ones the club have ever produced.

Hibs have every right to stop others using copyrighted material... but they also have to up their game on the products they make available.

Wandering round the Hibs Shop is mostly uninspiring and a few things I've bought in the past have just been way overpriced cheap crap.

The guys selling scarves at the corner of Albion Place and Albion Rd could teach them a thing or two about half decent scarves for a start (albeit with incomplete badges)

It's about time the club did decent retro shirts, with or without the help of Adidas etc. The efforts we see in the club shop are often amateur looking and I would be shocked if they sold in any real numbers.

Perhaps they should collaborate rather than competing with each other?

One has the market, the other has the skills. Seems some obvious wins.

Is this not part of the point of Greg's Tweet?

"Having tried to reach out to them last week, they know where we are if they want to attempt to do this by the book."

Think thats right.

TBH I stopped reading after he said he tried to "reach out"

The only people allowed to do that are the Four Tops imo............................

The issue is that replica's will never look that great unless they have the original brand logo on them. In addition part of the allure of a retro top is that they are rare. When you bring out a replica that everyone can get they lose appeal.

Aye think there's a different Retro Hibs who is actually decent, this guy after talking to someone else is a rip off merchant whose gear is questionable.

The Famous Five era tops in the shop are very good quality. They’re heavy duty cotton and need washed at low temperature, but mine is going strong after a good fews years. Not cheap, but very good overall.

These are the best replicas the club have released, like others have said the modern ones are poor. I get its to do with copyright etc but the shirts without the sponsors look terrible.
After winning the cup and not releasing a cup winners shirt or many more of the shirt nothing surprises me with the shop. Always seem to miss out on big opportunities.

To be fair you could make the same accusation of overpricing with regard to practically any club shop in the country, we all know football clubs overcharge taking advantage of the fans loyalty .... just so long as they never make the mistake of thinking we don't know it.

You are bang on about uninspiring stock, especially when it comes to scarves. I've been on the lookout for the wee guy at the corner of Albion road for a while but he doesn't seem to be there any more. I wanted to buy a green white and purple scarf, I've seen him with them and I know there's no chance of getting one in the club shop. As it is I was able to get one on line last week ... it arrived in a Hibs draw string bag with two Hibs lapel badges and a metal Easter Road street sign with the previous 'Saturn' style club badge on it, none of which were included in my original purchase ... that's some service :greengrin

So far as the scarf goes ..... It's fine wearing a simple green and white scarf in Edinburgh ... do it around here and folk automatically think you are a Celtic supporter, a nice wee touch of purple IMO at least stops that happening.

Stall with flags and scarves on Albion road (about 100 yds from ticket office) was definitely there before the st Johnstone game. No sure what his purple levels were like though 😁

The guy seems to have gone off twitter.

The account is still there, although a lot of Tweets have been deleted.

One ( now deleted) Tweet I read last night said that certain tops could only be bought on Thursday (paraphrasing) "to get around copyright issues".

I'm usually a late arrival, probably packed up and gone home by the time I get to the stadium.

Purchased one of the tops last night. Payment via PayPal, so no chance of running off and enjoying the cash.

6 weeks for arrival but lad seems confident it will be quicker.
Will keep updated.

I’ve asked for McEwan 69 on the back…….

Not seen a website which was mentioned previously.

Pretty sure he said the tops were being made in Europe not China so no chance of anything going wrong. Then again you can't believe everything you read on the Internet.

What cost was it SS?

I ordered a replica from a similar site last year - the white Skol Cup adidas strip. Paid by Paypal then the Twitter page was gone shortly after and it was a struggle to find contact details again via the original email.

Waited 4-5 weeks, no sign of the top. They told me to wait another few weeks but I then asked for a refund, which I received. My mate had a similar experience.

I think the model that some of these guys use is they fulfil 1 order out of 5. They hope that half their customers won't bother asking for a refund and they move on.

Great if you eventually receive a top that you're happy with but doesn't seem worth the hassle in my experience.
