Was wondering what pubs are best for Hibs fans to go to before the game this Saturday? Heading down to Aberdeen for the first time.

Any of the pubs on or just off union street are ok. Old School house is decent, so is the The Prince of Wales pub which I'm sure has one of the longest bars in Scotland.

Bare in mind we only take 1000 or so to Aberdeen so bumping into large groups of Hibbys before and after the game isn't a common thing.

North East Hibs have organised something in the Butchers Arms on George Street the last few times, not sure if they have anything planned this time.

If not the Saltoun Arms is 10-15 minutes walk from Pittodrie and ok for away fans.

City centre is only 20 minutes or so walk from Pittodrie though so you have your pick. As said above the Prince of Wales could be a shout, really good pub and the food is quality.

We usually go the old Blackfriars over the road from the weathespoons. Usually a few Hibs fans in there

Butchers Arms is the base for North East HSC and is normally bouncing before the game. That's where I'm heading.

One place to avoid would be The Snuggery.

Not because it’s an Aberdeen pub or a potential trouble spot or anything, but simply because it’s one of the worst pubs, and most bizarre I’ve ever been in. A clientele who do not appear of this world. In saying that, if the evening crowd is anything to go by I might actually be tempted to look in to compare that with their lunchtime patrons for research purposes.

I lived there 2004-2010.

Worked part time in the stock room in Next when it was in the St Nicholas Centre. Prince of Wales every working day for a pint and lunch with the other guys. Steak pie, chips and beans was always a highlight.

Just a decent no nonsense boozer.

I see from website that we only got allocated 1100. Just selling the two covered sections I assume?

We will get section P (uncovered section) to sell if we sell out the current allocation. Section P is always a reduced price as well due to having no roof.

Yeah, section P is always sold last if we sell out the initial sections Q and R.

Not much chat about this game with the focus obviously having been on the cup, but this is absolutely massive

Win it and we resign Aberdeen to the bottom 6 (and potential relegation!), lose and we'll be struggling to make top 6 ourselves

This is a big big game for our season.

Would be so good to win and consign them to the bottom 6.

17-03-2022, 11:01 PM
We really need to win this.

Two goalless draws against Dundee and St Johnstone left everyone a bit deflated.

Melkersen and Jasper have everyone a huge boost and excitement against Motherwell aswell as Newell returning, we need to build on that.

Aberdeen aren’t in a good place but they’re never an easy team.

Get Melkersen right on the shoulder of Bates and Gallagher and look for that ball, if we play to feet it will suit them.

We also need to be careful playing out from the back as they’ll be very aggressive in trying to catch us out with guys like Ferguson nipping our heels, he will be right on top of our midfield so guys like Campbell if starting need to be switched on all game.

I’m guessing Sportsound will be lining up an Aberdeen dream team of Richard Gordon, Willie Miller and Liam McLeod for tonight’s game, so Red TV might be less partisan.

Jim Goodwin is just as much of "a wind-up merchant extraordinaire" as Porteous is, if not more so. No matter what your opinion is on whether or not the penalty awarded for us against Aberdeen was a penalty or not, Porteous didn't do any "winding up" of anybody, just a friendly photo of him and Goodwin at the end of the match!
