Nice 30th birthday present from his father

Happy birthday Simon. Not the best striker we’ve had but always had my admiration for his work effort and having a derby winner under his belt. (And to make it clear, this is intended as a positive post about Simon, I'd have a million Simon Murrays ahead of a player like Kamberi who may have had more technical ability but not the attitude or work ethic that Simon gave the club).

Why wish him a happy birthday then go on about him not being the best striker we have had, ffs just wish the guy awe the best and leave it at that or dont say anything in my humble opinion.

Because it’s part of why I admire what he did for the club. There on attitude and work ethic which should be a shining example for any player coming in.

14 goals In 29 appearances for Hibs, just under 50% , I would say that's a hell of a good return ratio. Happy birthday to the lad

I think 8 of those goals were in the League Cup, against lower league teams.

Though 6 goals from about 20 league games is no worse than any of our current strikers... albeit in a very different team.

Decent player and he's doing very well at Queens Park.

I liked him and was a bit surprised we let him go on loan when we did, albeit Kamberi and Maclaren were upgrades.

With every respect I’m posting a birthday wish and getting grief from someone about it. Way too much picking up on the most minor of things on here at times. Deleted the “problem” from my post because shouldn’t react to it but happens way too often.

Loved his goal against Hearts nutmeg on Soapy Soutar and dispatched the ball into the roof of the net just as I was taking my seat

I thought that too but he doesn’t appear to have played for a while. Maybe injured.

I hope the serious injury that he picked up in South Africa didn't affect his movement, it was amazing how often he got himself into a position in the box through his running alone.

Yes, sorry, wasn't having a go at you personally at all. Just an observation that on here even the most simple, innocent, threads seem to have the potential to turn into raging battles...

Only with us for a few months but who could forget those goals that ended up getting us victories against Rangers & Hearts.

People can question his ability but no denying he had a positive impact when here.

Exactly. He did his best and was very effective until we played mainstream SPL games where he seemed to fall a bit short. Wish him all the best for his birthday and for the future.

14 goals in 28 games including goals in wins against Hearts and Rangers.

I actually think there’s a bit of an injustice in the way he’s remembered sometimes. He was a lot more than a barrel load of effort and running.

A couple of huge moments and some really good finishes.

Is he? I honestly didn't know that.

I hope he's gets over it soon and back to scoring for the Spiders.

Him and Keith Wright up front together would have been a fantastic Double Ginger ! Or chuck Eoin Doyle in as well for a big Triple Ginger !!

He's been injured for a great deal of the time he's been with Queen's Park, sadly. Signed in summer 2020, didn't play until November. 7 goals from 12 games (8 starts) in 2020-21, 5 from 19 (15 starts) this season. Last goal was on 28 August, hasn't played since 18 December. From what I've been told, I have a few pals who are Queen's fans, his workrate when he plays is second to none but he's never been able to fully overcome that injury he got in South Africa.

I think he still has another year on his contract at Queen's. Hopefully he can get back to playing regularly next season. Lovely chap.

It was actually a commendation for the attitude of a player who knows he’s not a Harry Kane but through sheer determination and work ethic has made a success of himself and lives on in the memory of supporters with goodwill to spare as a result.

Some people gasping for an argument on here so all I’ll say is good luck and enjoy your day 👍

Says the guy who's responded to every post where this has been mentioned , whether they were quoted or not :na na:

Hibs net would be a better place if we could just wish an ex-player a happy birthday, without the need for back handed compliments or whatever.

So, belated birthday greetings to Simon Murray, he was a ginger goal machine and served us well.

It was not a back handed compliment as pointed out many times, I admire the players who never hide, never give up and outwork anyone else more than any other as if we had a team of eleven players who had the same attitude, we’d be invincible. Quite a few years back now a bully of a boss led to ending up in a state of anxiety and led to me losing a good career as a result. A good friend of mine helped me build the same attitude towards life since.

My post is not back handed, if anything I have the utmost admiration and find inspiration from your Simon Murray’s, Lewis Stevenson’s, John McGinns etc. who don’t let a bad day hold them back. Hopefully this gives a bit of context to it and if you’d like to continue with your little emojis with tongues stuck out then feel free.
