Wasn’t at the game today but on the tv coverage there was a song being sung I didn’t recognise, think it was about Maloney?

Anyone know it?

You pass it to the right,
Then you pass it to the left,
Left, Right, Right, Left then
You do the hard hit pass back
Then wee Shaun turns around...

That seems far more suitable than what was sung.

Not sure if it was because half the stand didn't know what was being sung or like me they thought singing the manager's name when we were struggling to get out our own half against a 10 man team that hasn't won a game this year wasn't the best time to give it an outing. I might have joined in during the first half where we were trying to get out our own half but the second half performance was very much the football I expect he is encouraging and his post match comment seemed to confirm that given how pleased he was with the performance

They’ve surely won at least two games this year to be in the quarters of the cup?

Right enough they beat Aberdeen. I had just read that stat on a webpage so maybe they were talking about league games. They knocked Morton out too but it was 0-0 after 90 mins. I was at that game and they were terrible.

Jesus what a miserable guy you sound like. Just into semis and another trip to hampden. We were brilliant first half and been dealing with an obscene amount of injuries. Maloneys admitted himself were miles off where he wants us. Cheers up ffs

Maloney out?

Maloney to have plenty time to make us better, it is just very poor at the moment. The last time I wanted a manager sacked was Butcher, they all need time but it just surprised me when the song was sung. Fair enough first half but we were honking in the second half and much of it was the style of football we are being coached to play

I might be wrong but I imagine (I also joined in with the chant) the fans were ‘supporting’ our manager?

It wasn’t exactly exciting second half but we kept the ball really well for large spells. 2-1 up in the cup, we were going to be taking any major chances that’s for sure. Motherwell had a bit of pressure but I never felt in any trouble.

Hahaha!

I have now seen some video from fans at the game and it appears to be “We’ve got… Shaun Maloney”.

Although I might just sing “feeling Shaun Maloney” anyway [emoji2]

Yeah new for us but not a new song in football. Think Man City sing it for Guardiola, and Dundee Utd/Scotland used to sing it about Lawrence Shankland. Imagine there’ll be plenty other examples too.

Crystal Palace being the unique ones that just sing the song in its original form.

Yeah of course. Couldn’t pick up the tune on the tv but now I know I can tell that’s what it is.

Always good to have a song for the manager, can’t remember the last good one we had?

Suppose there was “Stubbsy….Stubbsy….Stubbsy!!!”. Haha

It's even more embarrassing for the Yams that we've literally reduced their song book to a Pepsi Max ditty - had to work at Tynie this weekend and between that and the Gorgie Boys (Billy Boys) song they are struggling in the song department. Shambles of a support.

No, I reckon we should keep possession up the park where it a good deal safer and if a good chance to get a third comes then go for it.

The game was pretty much played in our half the second 45 mins. That just increases the likelihood of any slip up causing an equaliser. For all Macey never had much to do that was as much to do with how poor Motherwell were. I'm pleased we won but he was very pleased with the performance. It was again, for much of the game, pretty lifeless and devoid of any drive. We actually look ok when we move it quick and we need to use the threat we now have running in behind to keep teams honest and stop them squeezing all the space.

Absolute nonsense. We kept the ball, won the game professionally and defended well in the main.

We play some lovely football but second half at 2-1 down Motherwell were never gonna let us do that even with ten men.

Good start but could do with some work. How about (again to the tune of the hokey-cokey):

You pass the ball to the left
Ball to the right
Left, right, left, right
Don't let it out of sight
You bring on a sub who nobody likes
That's when the boo-boys start.

Oh Shaun-Shaun Maloney....

NB I've spent literally minutes (possibly as many as two) on this so I hope you appreciate it.

Keep possession up the park and leave gaps in behind for Roberts and Woolery to exploit, or keep Motherwell honest and reach the semi final of the cup?

Yep that would have made no sense. If they attack with ten they give us the space when we are ahead. Tactics were spot on hence they only really had one real effort at goal and we won a massive game comfortably.
