These injuries are freaking me out how many more points do we need to rule out relegation?

I'll rule it out for you right now. Not happening.

Making an assumption that Dundee win all their games and we finish bottom 6, we'd need 17 points.

The Hibs heroes of 2014 got 35 points. We have 36. We'll be fine.

I'd say we're already there to be honest.

Since the play offs were introduced the average number of points required to get 10th place (and therefore safe) has been around 36 points which we're on right now.

Dundee would need to get at least 14 points from 10 games, so far they have managed 22 points from 28 games. We are not brilliant but we are picking up points and will improve when we get some players back.

No chance we are going down.

I said the Ross County game was must win to put that to bed. We won it and have a 13 point cushion with St Johnstone having 27 to play for and Dundee 30.

Even if we don't pick up another point neither of those 2 are catching us.

Hope you are all right started following Hibs in 1970 and don’t ever remember a season like this for injuries.

4 games to the split? Just stay top 6. Same as last time.

Injuries are really bad this season but right now we have a good enough squad to put two decent teams out when all are fit. We'll be fine. Good times ahead.

That comment still sends shivers down my spine...along with.."all we need is a point...surely this weekend.."

Not a chance. Even if we finished in the playoff position theres no danger we'd lose to a championship side. That couldn't happen to us...

There is no excuse for this squad to be relegated despite injury’s.

I had genuine concerns about relegation until a few weeks ago but we're safe now.

What I would say tho is that we have as much chance of finishing 10th as 4th.

There's no excuse for this thread, tbh.

We're one point off 4th place. Struggling with injuries, yes, but we're more than capable of finishing 6th if not higher.

Relegation is not on the same planet never mind on the horizon.

We aren't getting relegated. I thought we might get sucked into something a few weeks back but not now. Dundee and St Johnstone wont catch us. We could very easily finish 10th though.

There are only 2 relegation candidates and we're not one of them. It's a weird season when Hearts are sh*t but easily the 3rd most consistent team. You usually get 2 or 3 consistent teams but with Aberdeen being cr*p the path to 4th is open for 7 teams - might be us might not.

I don’t think we will be relegated, however anything is possible until it’s a mathematical certainty.

I don’t believe we will be in the bottom 2 either but if we don’t start scoring ……who knows..

it’s not just injuries we need to worry about ..suspensions will bite too.

I think we need to win on Saturday or the bottom 6 will be more likely than not.

I asked the question a few weeks back as to what it was felt we needed to be safe, and I think we are beyond the totals suggested at that time.

It wouldn’t surprise me if we finished in either 4th or 10th given how tight it all is. Got to still keep focussed on 4th and obviously securing top 6 by the split. This doesn’t look like a season to be in a bottom 6 scrap given how close it all is down there.

The first sentence of your 2nd paragraph is true for everyone with the exception of the top 3 and bottom 2. It's quite mental that 60% of the league are within 5 points of each other.

It's not unrealistic to suggest a team that is as little as 3 points off the European places with 5 games to play could find themselves with absolutely nothing to play for in said final 5 games. I know top 6 has been decided at the last minute a few times but this must be one of the first times it's been so tight between 7th and 4th. It's usually a couple of teams playing it out in the last few weeks, this year it's going to be 7.

We need to win our next 2 home games for top six I reckon. Tomorrow massive, I just wonder were the goals are coming from. I was worried about being dragged into it but we should be ok.

2014 still haunts me we must have been about 8 (?) points clear of 11th when Butcher took over from Fenlon.

Been a real drop in standard across the board for a fair few seasons in Scottish football for whatever reason

When Butcher took over we were 7th and 6 points above 11th after 13 games played.

This season we're currently 13 points above 11th with 9 games left.

It would take an extraordinary set of results for us to go down.

If we didn't pick up another point then that's 6 points for St Johnstone.

They'd only need another 8 points from 7 games, very doable.

Agree though, we'll not be close to going down.
