Hibs.net Donation to Dnipro Kids

At this time of year hibs.net would usually be announcing our annual donation to Hibs. However, given the current events in Ukraine and the well established links between Hibs supporters and Dnipro we, as an admin team, have collectively made a decision to do something different this year.

As part of our response to the Hanlon-Stevenson Foundation's Dnipro Appeal we would like to announce that we have made a direct donation to the appeal of £21367 on behalf of our members here at hibs.net. Given the horrific situation in Ukraine at the moment it really was an easy decision to make. As always we have to thank each and every one of you for making this possible by playing an active role here. A special mention is due to our private members who provide the financial foundation on which this place is built, we really couldn't do this without your continuing support.

Finally a big shout to the entire Hibernian community who have responded to the call from the Hanlon-Stevenson Foundation to work together on this; including hibs.net, Hibernian Supporters, The East Stand, Hibeesbounce.com, Hibs Talk, Hibernian Retro, Longbangers, Down The Slope, The Hibs Club, We Are Hibs, Hibs Supporters Group and the Hibernian Former Players Association.

The Ukrainian community centre on royal terrace are also taking donations for the refugees fleeing from the war zone. I wish I had a link to what they’re looking for, but it’s all the things you would imagine they would need. Warm clothes, bedding, non perishable food and toys for the kids and anything else you think a displaced family would need.

Thanks, I’ll be making a donation. I think most people could open their kitchen cupboards and pick out a lot of stuff that’s been in there for ages, it’s no good to us, but to someone who’s had to leave their home and country it’s the difference between eating or starving.

Was speaking with two friends last night, one grew up in East Germany, the other in Poland. The deluge of stories coming from Ukraine and the number of refugees already should dispel any doubts about what is at stake here.
