While our ambitions for the season will still be looking at 4th spot I was having a look at the run in and it really is neck and neck for securing a top 6 finish in 5 games time. I’ve discounted Ross County perhaps unfairly but there are 6 teams within 3 points of each other and obviously only 3 spots left to play for.
From the list below Motherwell and Dundee Utd seem to have quite favourable fixtures. St Mirren also have an extra game in hand. The biggest plus for us is that we have the old firm out of the way now but I don’t fancy going into the last game at Tyne needing points for top 6.
Looking at the fixtures I think 7 points from our last 5 games will probably be enough to secure a place. All our remaining fixtures are winnable but the next two in particular are pretty big and could give us some breathing space going into 3 harder games at the end.
Hibs - 35 Points
Dundee (A)
St Johnstone (H)
Aberdeen (A)
Dundee Utd (H)
Hearts (A)
Motherwell - 35 Points

For my money the three that are there now will be the ones in the top 6 but it wouldn’t take a lot to change it.

I genuinely think we will draw every game.
Ross County shouldn't be counted out either.
Motherwell will miss out.

Rangers
Hearts

While our fixtures look toughish, the other teams vying for 4th/top six are pretty poor overall, though I still feel Aberdeen have a good squad. The way things go in this league, you can't really make any assumptions based on the fixtures of other teams and I reckon we should have enough to get the results we need regardless. The huge injury list doesn't help of course.

We need to win our next 2 games and if we do that we'll be ok. I just worry were the goals are coming from. Fingers crossed Doidge comes good 🤞

Well if Nisbet is out for a while as Maloney fears he will need to as will be our only striker for Dundee game unless Scott’s illness clears up

I think Livi will be fourth at the split and also finish there. They work so hard, have goals and don't give away much. The pitch is also a massive advantage and they have a manager that plays to the strength of the player he has.
We should scrape in to the top 6 but the lack of goals and the fact we create so little gives me cause for concern. Injuries and the lack of strikers to cover now that Nisbet is injured is a worry too. I think Motherwell will complete the top six. Hearts are so lucky that they have hardly faced a challenge for 3rd with the teams that should provide it in poor shape and sacking managers and the other bunch of teams in the middle good enough to take points off each other.

|'m hopeful we'll grab fourth spot, improving as the season goes on and the Maloney message beomes clearer to the players. Would be seriuosly surprised to see Livi finish 4th.

Win our next two fixtures which we should do and we'll be fine.

Next 2 games we really need 4 points minimum.
Dundee Utd game should see a good crowd at ER along with the St J game.
Getting top 6 could see some decent crowds at ER which would really financially benefit us.

next two games look crucial for a top six- zero goals in 6 of last 8 games is my big concern, and while Nisbet not been prolific will be a loss if now missing.
based on today however got to be positive can get some results.

With our ever increasing injury list finishing in the top 6 has now become a noteworthy achievement and should be recognised as such if we make it.
Sadly the inability of a large percentage of our fanbase to apply context to anything regarding Hibs means that's unlikely to be how it goes.

We’ve got to win Wednesday and Saturday. Momentum is massive and that would give us a decent bit of it on the back of the last three results.
We’re clearly really short attacking wise, we just need to find a way between now and the end of the season to get some results (like we did yesterday).

Huge games that is for sure. Two wins would put us in a good position given the ridiculously tight league 4th down.

I'm hopeful of fourth too but can't see it unless we score some goals. Livi are the second best points scorers over the last 6 games but they don't have the easiest schedule till the break. They have a manager that has the team playing at a better level than the sum of its parts. They are very well drilled and work incredibly hard. We are really struggling to score goals with 4 in the 8 league games this year. One was a cross and two were shots from outside the box with only Mitchell's scored close in. To me that is our biggest problem. We have all our players coming short so we can play a passing game that most teams break down nine times out of ten. When we are successful in breaking through we get hardly any men in the box so rarely create a shot on target from close in, the type of shot that creates most goals. The system may work in time but not this season imo and with the injuries I'd say top 6 would be a decent performance from Maloney. Even given time I think Maloney needs to be flexible and more pragmatic.

Tomorrow game is really important. Maloneys most important game for me since he arrived.
St Johnstone running out of games to make up points on 10th and will be desperate to get 3 points.
Motherwell seem to have easiest run of games to get into top 6.
Teams around us have some tough games this weekend so Hibs need to get points on the board.

Shoot on sight policy I’d implement.
