Unsure if mentioned elsewhere but if so please feel free to merge:

I just read that John Toshack is in hospital in Barcelona. He has Covid related pneumonia.

Remember when he tore us a new at Liverpool away.
Despite that memory best wishes Tosh for a speedy recovery!

Along with Keegan and Steve Heighway, John Toshack was one of my first football heroes.

He was in the Swansea team that was the first club to play at Anfield after Bill Shankly’s death. As both teams lined up to show their respect, Toshack removed his Swansea tracksuit top to show his Liverpool top underneath

Can you imagine a player doing that today!

Hope Toshack makes a full recovery
When I moved down here first time I was 6
We went to watch Liverpool v Leeds which was the big game in English football at the time
I adopted Liverpool as my English team
11, months later they put Hibs out the Eufa
Cup despised them since and always followed Man Utd because of this
As I say hope he gets well soon despite that fizzing hat trick

Turnbull almost signed him and saw him as a possible successor as manager.

I never knew that either, or if I did I have long forgotten. I’d love to see a press clipping of that story!

At the time his cousin who was his spitting image worked in the west end of Edinburgh which caused a bit of excitement.

Who’s Moray G ? 🤷*♂️
If you look into my post I switched as a 6 year old from them to Man Utd because what they did to Hibs
They went one way we went the other unfortunately
My commitment has always been Hibs
That guy (Bolton Hibee) I’m sure he’s a nice guy
But will change his team like his whisky
Sure I saw him in the South Stand today
That moustache stands out a mile

Swapping your second team is no biggie.

Swapping your original team is an awful sin!

Yes his cousin’s name was John Toshack and he was the spitting image of the footballer. I worked beside the cousin in the late 60s and early 70s. Although John the footballer was born in Wales his family came from Dunfermline originally which made him eligible to play for Scotland but he chose Wales.

Great footballer, especially in the air.

Yes.It was uncanny really. He came into the office I worked in and I asked him if he was John Toshack. He said he was and added "but not the one you're thinking about".

Looking through old threads on here (Tom Hart) and my rusty memory it would appear Tom Hart initially had the brain wave of flying John Toshack up every week by helicopter and paying him 3k per week but that fell through and he opted for George Best paying him 2k per week :greengrin

My kind of striker. Always thought there was a bit of the late Tommy Cooper about him. Just like that.

Small world isn't it. I remember seeing the footballer John Toshack at a few Hibs games in the past.

Thanks for posting the link first time I have seen that. Those were the days when European football was the norm for us. Always a special atmosphere on European nights.
