Hi folks,

It's taken a few days to pull all the pieces together, but we're pleased to confirm that all proceeds from our new Sauzee 4 Prize Draw will go directly to Dnipro Kids.

it goes without saying that we've all been united in our disbelief and horror at the scenes in Ukraine over the last few days, so naturally we want to do what we can to help Stevie and his team.

As you'd expect from the Hibernian family, we're not alone. After extending invites to several familiar faces within the online Hibs community, we were pleased - and in no way surprised - to receive immediate encouragement.

HSF are proud to be working shoulder to shoulder with Hibs.net, Hibernian Supporters, The East Stand, HibeesBounce.com, Hibs Talk, Hibernian Retro, Longbangers, Down The Slope, The Hibs Club, We Are Hibs, Hibs Supporters Group and Hibernian Former Players' Association.

By donating £10 to our JustGiving page, you'll be entered into the draw to win one of four exciting prizes.

Two tickets to our Franck Sauzee Gala Dinner, which includes entry to our VIP suite, along with a meet-and-greet and photograph with Franck.
A signed, limited edition Franck Sauzee single malt whisky.
A signed Franck Sauzee canvas print.
A signed Franck Sauzee Hibernian shirt.

Winners will be drawn at random on March 14 and you can enter via www.justgiving.com/fundraising/franksauzee4 (https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/franksauzee4).

Thanks to all the other groups for linking up with us on this. Hopefully it raises some much-needed funds for Dnipro Kids at a troubling time.

A very worthy fundraiser and it's great that so many groups have joined together in support of this. Some light in a very dark tunnel.

Is anyone able to put me in touch with the people that organise the displays at Hibs games?

Of course Ukraine needs financial aid just now, but something almost as important is to know that they have the support of people throughout the world.

I am thinking a strong display showing we support Ukraine, and shared throughout Ukraine, would be a good way of helping to lift the spirits of Ukrainians in these terrifying times.

Just bumping this back to the top of the page as it may get lost in amongst post match reaction.

A very worthy cause and great to see so much of the Hibs family come together to support it.

I think that would be a very good thing to do.

I bought a Ukranian flag for today's game but (for reasons I'd rather not go into) was unable to take it... but it'll be there next week.

I think St Johnstone would do it as well. I’ve already had messages of support from a few St Johnstone fans and they have linked Dnipro Kids on a couple of their fans forums. They asked me about a bucket collection, but these have already been allocated by Hibs.

Stevie, I remember you mentioned on the other thread about how you wanted to keep this fundraiser separate from Dnipro Kids ordinary work, understandably because of the constitution. Do you know what this money is likely to be used for?

Hi PH, thanks for asking and I’ll try and respond as best I can.

Our constitution is primarily for the children, but there is a bit of scope for leeway if the committee feels it’s for the betterment of the children we support.

In the past we have had to turn down some requests for assistance if the committee has felt that it’s not directly for the betterment of the children, let’s take repairing a fence at an orphanage as an example.

However, the current situation could potentially throw up situations that our constitution may not have previously given us scope to provide funding for. If we take the example above, there may be a situation where home repairs might be a necessity.

If everyone that donates via HSF knows that it is a separate fund from the one that Dnipro Kids is guided by the constitution then it gives those on the Dnipro Kids committee a bit of flexibility in utilising the funds as best they can based on a very fluid situation. It may allow us to respond to a particular situation, expand to assisting children out with the orphanages we support, or even providing support to other charities requiring assistance in Ukraine.

I think what I’m trying to say is it gives us flexibility, but our current focus is very much on the Dnipro orphanages and trying to ensure their safety and well-being.

I hope this helps answer your question?

A quick update on the situation in Dnipro ..

There are air raid sirens about half a dozen times a day just now. Because the Russians took out so much of the countries radar systems they have to err on the side of caution when missiles come over from Russia as they can't pin point their destination.

Our helper Natalie, and her daughters and the neighbours, have no shelter to go to, so when the sirens sound they all huddle in the corridor in the middle of the apartment block until they get the all clear.

Everybody is worried about the possibility of an imminent attack on the city.

Natalie is in touch with the orphanages on a daily basis, and this morning she informed me that yesterday some of the orphanages received calls from the local government .. my initial thought was it must have been about support, or possibly about evacuation .. but no .. it was to ask how many more children they could take just now.

With everything that has been going on over the last few days I hadn't even thought about the fact that a war will result in more orphaned children!!

I think it’s desperately sad that the Scotsman rag is running a headline story congratulating hahahahearts fans for buying tickets for people less able to afford tickets as if this is a unique gesture. That’s all very fine as young people attending our game with St Johnson will still be there. However, where is the acknowledgment of the monies being put towards the Ukrainian relief funds from Hibs fans and especially the huge gesture through Hibs.net.
Is the SMSM really that one sided or am I missing something.

For all the modern day internet posturing, from both sides, people will always come together and do the right thing. Hearts have done the right thing. Doing this in tandem with a charity affiliated with their footballing rivals shows now is the time to put that old hostility aside. I'm sure if we were the ones living that utter nightmare we'd not give two ****s if the person next to us was a Jambo or not. We'd just be glad to have someone at our side. So the best we can hope for is both our club and Hearts stand together helping these people in any way we can.

Who knows how all this will pan out, but one thing is for sure, there's been a unity across Europe that I thought I'd never live to see again.

Hopefully some other clubs in Scotland will do likewise. Some things are far more important than football.

This. People very close to me don’t understand why I hold football in such high regard for its ability to help and heal. But this, and things like the tribute to the young hearts fan who passed away at the last derby at ER are why.

They don’t get it, I doubt they ever will. But this is why.

With any luck and continued contributions from them that can afford this should reach 50k, great reaction and every penny will be needed, as the Russians step up the war.

£50k very close, just had a look and its at £49,569

My son’s football team, KSQ, have announced today that they’re fundraising for Dnipro Kids. They’ll be having collections at training sessions for all age groups this week. I’m very proud of the club for choosing to support such a worthy cause.

£51k .. I’m lost for words

If only the UK government could put in a similar effort and actually give us the go ahead to bring them here 🙄

Hi folks,

When we talked about donating the proceeds of our prize draw to Dnipro Kids, we never thought for a second we'd end up sitting at £52,000-plus, so it's fair to say we owe a lot of people our gratitude.

The various online Hibernian accounts supported us from Day One, many within the wider Scottish football community bought into it and we're appreciative of everyone who took the time to donate. We wanted to give the members of Hibs.net a special mention, because the one-off donation of your money was a gamechanger and inspired others to follow in your footsteps.

We've decided to leave our JustGiving campaign live, so anyone who wants to get involved can do so here (https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/franksauzee4?fbclid=IwAR2Y42W0v1J9YgQJn2EOcKp7YRA8 _hHdd4bSDV1UIVF3hmUMRTc9QRy1oUw). For those asking, we'll be in touch with the winners of our prizes for entering.

Wanted to finish by paying tribute to Stevie and his volunteer team. The world would be a better place with a few more like them.

Stevie, the Dnipro team, and the kids themselves are pillars of strength and resolve. What indomitable spirit they've shown in the face of such abject terror. Heroes.

Nice one, and a reminder to us all that they are going to need as much support as we can give them so they can plan for the medium to long term with confidence.

I make no apologies for bumping this again and I will continue to shamelessly bump this thread to the top as long as the HSF Just Giving page remains open. :greengrin
The more we can give the easier it will be for the outstanding people at Dnipro Kids to plan for the future with confidence.
