So, was at my pals wake earlier and this was one of the scarfs in his collection. I'm guessing 60's, anyone got any thoughts. The Hibernian Supporters made us think it was maybe a special one off scarf for something.
I was actually trying to hunt down a scarf earlier and stumbled on a thread from here from a few years ago and this scarf was discussed

The Hibernian Supporters made us think it was maybe a special one off scarf for something. First of all, condolences to you & your pal`s family & friends. I had one of those scarves in the 60`s. As far as I remember it was just a scarf you bought in the shops. It wasn`t a one off or anything like that. He has kept it in great condition.

I have that scarf and still wear it to games, pretty sure I bought it in 1971, could be a year out though.
Haven’t washed it once since buying as I’m afraid the logo will wash out, gets folded and put in drawer after every match, I treat it like gold. And no it doesn’t smell, it’s in perfect condition.

That`s the scarf I still wear to the odd game I get to though mine must have been bought in about 1967 and is nowhere near as in good condition as ones in photos here . Was the most standard scarf at that time . Very small and light so great for travelling light and for hiding quickly if surrounded by enemies .

Great scarf, got mine in the late 60’s and wish I’d kept it. Mine had a slight burn mark next to the painted badge from my mums iron done before the 6-2 League Cup Final. Thanks for posting and sorry for your loss.

I still have the T shirt I bought in 1973 with a photo of Alan Gordon scoring the seventh goal on the front, from the New Year’s Day drubbing we gave them. With all the players names as well. Bring it out very rarely to show Rachel my granddaughter who is a dyed-in-the-wool Jambo who is not impressed when I tell her Hibs went top of the league on goal difference after that ! :na na:

I have one of those which was given to me by my Granddad. I was definitely wearing it to games late 60’s and through the 70’s. As far as I know it wasn’t produced for anything special.

Pretty sure I have one like that somewhere, not in such good condition though!
Condolences for your loss mate.

This was perhaps my first Hibs scarf, so long ago hard to remember.
Condolences.

I bought mine in 1964, still have it and wear it. It’s getting to the stage where I’ll need to stop wearing it and consider a frame for it though because it’s thinning out a bit. :agree:

My actual first scarf had pinstripe white threads running the length of the dark green background and had Summer Cup Winners 1964 in white and with the cup on it, which may have been gold, maybe white as well.. Which makes sense as my first game was around then. No idea what happened to that scarf either.

I think it's very early 70s. The sixties ones I had were dark green with no tassles. Almost like boy scout cravat type which came to a point at the ends. Not well described sorry!

Yup - the one I'm thinking of was early sixties. It was like a matching scarf and tie set sold at Waverley Tailoring among others! I still have the tie!

There was a satin version in the early seventies.
Had one lost it at Leeds away.

You’ve been good enough to post that previously and I’ll never tire of seeing it. That’s mid sixties gold and the first scarf I had. Great memories of rosettes and tammies. The smell of exhaled smoke everywhere and a police horse at the post that stood at the end of the Bothwell Bridge. Life was so much more simple then Had the matching tie as well🙂 GGTTH

I got one in about 1980, from a wee shop in Newbigging, Musselburgh.
My mum had a meltdown one time about me going to football matches on my own at 14 and threw it in the bin :-(

I have a white satin one my cousin gave me. He wore his to Leeds. I’ll need to hunt it out.
