According to the BBC football gossip...

Manchester United have threatened to ban season ticket holders who do not show up for at least 10 home league games next season.

Not sure if that would be a punishment or not if applied to Hibs currently…

Sounds rediculous. They've paid their money so surely up to them if they turn up or not? Do they not have an ticket exchange thing like we did at the derby?

Interesting move, but I suppose for Manchester United they have 1000s who want tickets but can't attend games as there is no availability. For them, this must be to avoid those who buy a full season ticket, but only turn up to watch Liverpool, City, Chelsea etc and avoid the Burnley, Watford etc games.

We are not in that position, apart from the Derby. If Hibs fans buy tickets, but then don't turn up, surely that's their loss. Although, if those in the cheap seats (i.e. FFL) don't turn up then that's a different point.

Not sure if that would be a punishment or not if applied to Hibs currently…I agree. The punishment for us is watching the games. I get that it's a period of transition and all that, but it's really hard to watch. The St Mirren game was the first time I've left early for years.

Lots of empty seats at Old Trafford for years so not surprising.

I doubt the waiting list is as high as it used to be though.

Fair enough if you have literal queues of people trying to get in.

It's a tough call but one I totally agree with :aok:

Are they making a profit by selling their seats?

That happens a lot in the USA when stadiums are sold out.

Yeah I’d agree.

By ban, I presume they don’t mean actually ban them? Just more that they can’t renew their season ticket again and someone else will get to use it.

They’d still be welcome to attend games should they manage to get a ticket surely?

You left early at 1-0? :shocked:Yes, I did. I thought we could have played for another 2 hours and not scored. It was painful to watch.

I assume if its only if they don't put their tickets on the exchange. Dortmund do this every season. Nothing new.

More tickets for the tourists

I would have to agree, year after year we look for larger groups of tickets together and can never find any.

Week after week there are seats all round us that are empty, but our mates who don’t have STs are reluctant to buy a ST unless as a group.

There needs to be a bit more scrutiny over no attendees.

These season ticket holders that don't turn up should donate their tickets to charities to gain funds!
If someone wants a ticket they should be able to get one and pay the money to a charity rather than have empty seats!!!

If aimed at people who can afford to buy season tickets without even glancing at their bank balance in order to guarantee seats at the few games they want to attend, while punters who would attend every home game after spending a large part of their hard earned miss out…

What’s not to like.

The clue is in the bbc gossip column click bait at best.

Think that will be the reason, same with Liverpool, plenty ST holders selling games for profit.

Always thought the main qualifier for being a Manchester United fan was that you stay at least 200 miles from Manchester !

Why would anything like that apply to Hibs particularly with COVID still around. The club allow all season ticket holders to watch home league matches on Hibs TV because of this very reason.

Thousands bought season tickets for last time when there was little prospect of being able to attend a match.

There is no way that any club could legally get away with taking away a season ticket because they missed a couple of games. I suppose that they could refuse to renew the season ticket but given the number of empty seats around they may not be confident of filling the seat.

Is that legal? It sounds dodgy. What if someone develops a serious illness, for example? I can't see the Glazers being allowed to get away with such a move.

Anyway, as Britain's biggest club by far, Man United would soon shift them, even with a crap team.
