I wonder if there is any chance of us signing him?
I think he could transform our midfield if he came in. Was reading some of the posts from West Brom fans on his exit and the vast majority are gutted to see him go.
No doubt he will have offers from elsewhere but would be great if Maloney could use his connection to get him in.

I'm not quite getting where he would fit . We have loads of wide players now with pace. He is not a centre mid playmaker ?

Fingers crossed he and/or his missus want to come back up here. He's 34 I see so might want to see out his career in Scotland. Money talks though.

Would give us the creativity we lack, not to mention vast experience at the top level. Would’ve played in the Scotland squad with Maloney for a number of years as well

If he can play where Mueller was playing last night and create chances for the strikers then definitely. We're crying out for someone while Magennis is injured.
Long term Mueller might be that player, though equally he could take Nisbet or Doidge's slot if Snodgrass did come in.

Could he resign for WBA?
West Bromwich Albion have parted company with boss Valerien Ismael who had taken them to fifth in the Championship.

We have Henderson and Mueller who’ve just joined the club to play there, plus Scotty of course.

Article is mainly about Aberdeen's interest but does also mention we are keen (as are Dundee), if he sees himself returning to Scotland.
Could just be total guesswork by the DR.

I don't pretend to have a handle on Snodgrass's ability or form. But it's easy to see he's coming to the end of a very decent career at the higher end of the English leagues. He could probably bring a lot to our current squad in terms of experience and attacking instinct. Wiki tags him as a winger but the stats in this link here
https://www.whoscored.com/Players/9767/Show/Robert-Snodgrass
....show he's played in central midfield so far this season for W Brom.
So he could do more than one job for us and at a running start could probably improve our midfield and attacking options at a stroke - which is just what we need right now. So a yes from me. A deal to the end of the season would make sense for Hibs with a view to extending if it works out.

Said s couple of times I’d love if we signed him and think he’d instantly be our best player.
Unfortunately I think it would be Aberdeen if he was to join any team up here.
Hopefully we’re looking at some of the out of contract centre mids.

While true, i also see Maloney sticking with Newell and JDH every week.... if he is going to persist with this style then i wouldn't turn my nose up at Snodgrass taking one of those roles and give us the much needed skill and experience we are missing in the middle of the park.
I think Newell and Snodgrass would be a good combo and JDH coming on the replace Snodgrass at 60 mins would be a good rotation.

Is Snodgrass not more of a winger? Didn’t think he played in the middle.
We desperately need quality and he has that in abundance. I’m just not sure that’s the position we need it in.
If the funds are there though then I’d be getting him in as he’d improve the team.

Would be an excellent signing if he's still fit. Would definitely take him and place him in centre mid, a real leader and proven quality, especially at set pieces. We might actually score a direct free kick...

Snodgrass has played in the centre as well as the wings so could fill the middle position if we brought him in, even at 34 there will be a fair bit of interest though. He wouldn't be a long term answer to the centre of our midfield but that is fine, we don't need long term, we need immediate experience and quality....he has both, no brainer (if fit) for me.

I have seen Snodgrass play centre mid a few times, and he has enough experience to boss it in that position, especially in our league.... Signing Snodgrass wouldn't be like Dundee signing Charlie Adam, who seems past it now, I think Snodgrass would do a great job for a couple of seasons.

Issue is without Newell struggling who to think we could play there neither Henderson or Allan have the legs or defensive nous imo.

Was he? I don't ever recall thinking that during the game. A couple of times I was surprised to note that he did something positive but anything else over and above a neutral or mediocre involvement must have passed me by. Had to go back and read JB's This is How It Feels and am more than willing to accept his player summary that JDH was "back to somewhere near his best". However I also note that JDH didn't merit even one mention in JB's lengthy report. So maybe he was just back to being mediocre.

The mind boggles as to what you were watching, perhaps you're one of those people that form an opinion and it won't ever change. He was a standout in that game along with Newell and Porto, a blind man could see that.

Exactly. JDH is a good, young player who is comfortable on the ball, protects the back line well and who will improve further in time. Both he and Newell played well in the derby and were a big factor in us not conceding.
We do need more drive in midfield and better balance, but JDH and Newell are not the problem.

JDH is a St Mirren/Livi level player. That's nothing against the lad but that's where his ability is.
Campbell is the same, a St mirren/Livi level player.
Snodgrass is better than both as has the career to prove it. Could potentially be a Franck Sauzee type signing. Comes in mid season, adds a bit of quality and experience. Can't see it happening tho.

He’s very much an attacking midfielder though, either wide or a no.10.
I’m not sure he’d do the business in central midfield at all. We should try Scott Allan first seeing as he’s on our books already (and played there on Saturday).

He'd have exactly the same problem as Campbell who is a number 10 as well in my opinion. Snodgrass would be a brilliant signing but i don't know if Maloney would change things up to accomodate him. Experience might get him through better than Campbell.

On the Sauzee comparison, I was meaning more in general it might get the crowd excited to see a guy who has played at a high level. Maybe his ability will bring out the best in other players around him. If JDH/Campbell/Newell could benefit from Snodgrass playing in nos 10 role, it might bring their games on also.
Sadly for Scott Allan, I don't think the management team see him as mobile enough or otherwise, surely he would be in the team already. Maybe they will stick him in tonight as part of a 5 man midfield with Nisbet or Doidge lone striker?

I still think daily post limits would help. Would allow for a greater variety of views to be heard and for the posts of those who don't spend all day on here to be read and not lost in the bombardments of the few.
Lastly it would make people think about what they post rather than endlessly make the same points.
