As to not derail the transfer thread again, I thought for a laugh it would be interesting to start this as a thread.

Who, in your opinion, have been the best and worst current/former Hibs player names?

Could be the most 'interesting' names, or 'boring' names, or just whatever justification your is.

I'll start with a couple suggestions:

Dominique Malonga - superb

Gary Smith - apologies Gary, just a pretty boring name

James Scott was always going to be ***** off the name alone. No sense of the exotic or potential for puns whatsoever.

Big Dave was always an absolute belter. Shame it didn't work out for him.

Funny how we all love foreign names...but they are probably pretty boring in their own country.

I always remember thinking that Stefan Schwarz was a great name when he signed for Arsenal...but if you translate it......it just turns into boring old "Steve Black" :greengrin:greengrin

A player from late 40s/50's

Angus Plumb. A centre forward who could execute the perfect pass.

It is said that some of his passes along the deck were always in a straight line and perfectly measured.

Conjure’s up images of a 70’s prog rock group. Never got into prog, and similarly never really got into watching Edwin in a Hibs shirt.

Smart and Tam McManus as a front 2 in an away defeat to Livi the Sunday after the AEK Athens game still gives me nightmares. McManus would have been as well playing himself.

I mean Donald Ford Ernie Winchester Wullie Bauld and Tom Dick and Harry from Lithuania ?

So many panic buys I have forgotten their names

Indeed. He was billed as the new Georgie Best (another great footballer name - and a former Hibby!) when he joined Arsenal.

Joe Tortolano sounded quite exotic too but his football rarely was.

Gordon Rae was a good name for headline writers as was Gareth Evans (Evans sake, Evans above were much used).
