18 month loan confirmed albeit there’s ‘breaks’ in the summer and January where I imagine Arsenal can recall him.

He’s a terrific young player and will suit our style perfectly. Absolutely rapid, strong, good leap and very comfortable on the ball.

Slightly disappointed it’s not permanent and I hope Hibs are doing everything they can and in constant dialogue with Clarke and
Arsenal about making it permanent.

Sadly I’ve no doubt that 6 months with us and the old firm will come snooping for him.

None the less well done to Hibs on identifying him as a stand out for Ross County and making it happen.

Good start to the transfer window from us, let’s keep it going.

I do get that, but if we can get him in for 18 months that adds real quality for a player we might otherwise not be able to afford.

It’s the breaks in the loan that worry me though.

I trust Hibs will do everything they can to get him permanent, but I’m sure he’ll be seeing this as an opportunity to use us to get to the next level

Please be a lot better than the last Arsenal fullback we got on loan who was last seen kicking about Welling in 2020.

He's never going to play for Arsenal.

We'll always operate in the loan market I'd imagine otherwise we'd never get players like Clarke through the door. I have every faith we'll be trying all we can to get him in permanently. In the meantime, we've got a very good player for 18 months potentially.

In any case, and as we've already seen, sometimes 'our' players want out the door after six months anyway.

I'd have preferred if Arsenal didn't have the option a year from now. If he goes in the summer after making a great impression, that's fine, but it'd be a sickener to lose him mid-season if he'd been ripping it up in the opening stages. It's a sign of Arsenal's belief in him though, I suppose. Looking forward to good things from him.

This may be a stupid question, but the 'breaks' that have been mentioned are no different to any other loan deal, and the ability for the loaning club to recall a player at any time, are they not? Such as Arsenal recalling him from County?

Or does this actually work better for us as it means they can only recall him in that specified periods?

Couldn’t care less if he helps us win more football matches.

Isn’t that what happens with most of our really good players that are “hibs players” too? We nurture them and eventually they b**** off and play for someone better. That’s football.

Hopefully he turns out to be a player for us that we struggle to keep hold of like those players before him.

Have we claimed a special relationship with Arsenal yet, or are we not planning to stiff them?
