Found this list of players who`ve played for Hibs . www. worldfootball.net/teams/hibernian-fc/10/
Some omissions (Allan McGraw included but not his son Mark for example ) and maybe some there who shouldn`t be ( An Irish defender called Clive Delaney born in 1980 - don`t think he played for us ) . Nationalities based on place of birth if not capped ( though it has Chris Dagnall as Northern Ireland and James Collins as English ) . Seems to be up to date ( even has Dylan Tait ) . I presume there`s a more accurate list somewhere .
I found list cause I couldn`t remember name of Spanish reserve goalie we had a few years ago . Antonio Reguero - not sure if he made first team debut . Been playing in top division in Finland since leaving us in 2016 according to Wiki . Was he injured in 2016 or did Stubbs not trust him as back up so signed Conrad Logan ? Reserve goalie in semi ?

I have vague memories of Hibs signing a couple of Scandinavians in the late 70s or early 80s, but don't think either actually played for Hibs.

Am I correct? One was called Isak Refvik (updated having read another thread).

I saw them play and actually met them in an Edinburgh bar one night.

Both really nice guys, Mathisen spoke very good English, Refvik not so well.

I remember one comment from Mathison.

” Why is Mr Turnbull always so angry “ :greengrin

Mathisen looked a classy elegant player and Refvik was a pocket battleship centre forward that scored a double in a League Cup Quarter Final against Morton ( I think)

I remember we had to wait ages on a Work Permit for both but Rangers had no such problems getting clearance for Robert Prytz from Sweden

I'm pretty sure Refvik later went on to play for Rangers, if my memory is correct (long time ago though!)

I think the the problem was with Refvik. He wasn’t a full international and that gave the pen pushers reasons to refuse his work permit.

Pretty sure they both arrived in Leith by Ferry

Sadly Mathisen passed away a few years ago IIRC

Refvik and Matheson both missing from list I mentioned above . I remember being at their debut v Morton . Seems like list is far from complete - no Willie Jamieson for example .
Anyone remember Canadian midfielder Russell Huggon ( born 1979 ) or English goalkeeper Tom Phillips ( born 1981 ) ?

Don't think he ever played for us right enoughHe appeared on a Spanish TV programme about Spaniards living abroad in a programme about Spaniards living in Highands . Showed him in a class in Inverness studying English but with other adults so not a high school . His girlfriend ( at least then ) was also Spanish and appeared on programme but they`d met in that class in Inverness . I remember him playing for ICT and Killie and think he was at Ross County too .

I don't remember that all, are you confusing him with Robert Pritz?

Russell Huggon was with us around the time we were relegated in ‘98. I don’t think he actually played for us but am fairly certain he was an unused sub for a shortish run of games towards the end of that season, maybe listed due to more senior players being out with injuries or whatever. I can’t remember him ever having come on but was curious as to what sort of player he was like.

He was part of a cohort of younger players at the time who were on the fringe of the first-team squad. I remember seeing us away at a miserable, cold and foggy midweek replay in the third round of the Scottish Cup early 1999, where Stirling Albion beat us. There were a bunch of the younger players seated in front of us and IIRC he was there along with the likes of Scott Bannerman, maybe Emilio Bottiglieri, he was that age group.

Im not the op but he probably is. The furore for Hibs fans at the time was that we couldn't get a permit for Mathieson or Refvik but the hun got one for Prytz who had similar qualification issues to our Norwegians.

Probably a 'rolled-up trouser leg' of a situation that still continues, perhaps...!
