Arrived at Hampden yesterday from the Rutherglen side ravenous and wanted a burger. Decided to wait so passed through numerous vans selling food as didnt really want to mingle amongst all the stalls selling the usual Celtic guff etc. Got to the Hibs end to find one solitary burger van and two guys selling flags, its something ive never really noticed before despite numerous visits to Hampdump. Am i missing something and was there any more vans etc towards Mount Florida or is this the norm. I cant imagine thats all there is when the Rangers come to town .Anyway long story short didnt wait in the que and ended up with a pie inside felt like a second class citizen

There are 4 or 5 takeaways towards Mount Florida so i would assume not many food vans are needed own that side.

Quite Rosa Parks esque this

A 1 minute walk from the burger van is 3 chippys and a curry house and kebab shop. I don't think the Glasgow Burger Van Association are discriminating against Hibs fans.

The GBVA sounds like an Ulster paramilitary group to me, I suggest you reconsider whether they discriminate against us

Into the ground and ordered 2 pies and 2 bovrils. The girl saw the note in my hand, informed me it was card only but said have the pies for nothing.

I had a steak pie which made me sick on the way home yesterday despite having a few refreshments before the game :greengrin

I had nothing in the ground because I refuse to be part of a cashless society, I'll go places where I can pay cash.

You might go hungry in a few years, Hermit.

Christie's the butchers in Bruntsfield will be glad of your patronage. They're as old school as it gets and it's cash only in there - plus the pies are light years ahead of the food you get outside or inside football stadiums

Thanks for the heads up, next time I'm up that way with some spare time I'll pop in for a nosey.

Quite right.
My 90 year old mother in law (early onset dementia, but fairly mild) feels exactly the same.

I could introduce you for a small fee.

Cash is king, but not for much longer.

Casino & bookies will take your cash 😉

Spell check at it again there - should be Donner or Blitzen - I’ll get my coat 🤭

Why? Genuinely interested. A lot of pros to going cashless - more hygienic, reduces queue times, reduces risk of violent crime, harder to launder money, evade tax etc.

Not in my experience

I've lost count of the times I've been waiting in a queue watching somebody trying desperately to pay by phone and it just not working, while everybody else is mumbling 'just get an f.....g move on'.

I go there every Christmas to get the great chipolatas they do. Can't seem to get real chipolatas these days, those sold as such in supermarkets are just small sausages masquerading as the real thing. For my family, pigs in blankets are vital at Christmas and New Year and they have to be made with chipolatas. I got it wrong a few years ago and get reminded of it every time since.

Absolutely. Can't see cash disappearing all together but the move to contactless is a brilliant step forward. No idea why anyone wouldn't buy into it

Because some people like to keep it private where they spend their money. Not everything recorded by banks n credit card companys.

I literally couldn't give a shiny one if someone in MI5 is documenting whether or not I have one or two sausage rolls from Greggs.

They may also look at my orders of condoms from Boots and think I'm a top ****ger, whereas I'm just really keen on balloon modelling.

And who exactly do you think is looking at that? I don't think its a big deal, but each to their own.

I'm not overly bothered myself tbh, use my card all the time. But I know of quite a few people who dont.

Harder to keep track of how much your spending as well!
