After watching that display from so called referee John Beaton is it not about time the P.F.A.backed the players and started a campaing regarding our so called referees.Remember when the referees went on strike and we got foreign referees who were far superior to what we had

Would be great if fans of other clubs rallied together

There would be no harm in bringing in neutral referees to do cup finals from England, Wales or Europe.

VAR wouldn't go a miss either, if we had VAR today we are 100% getting that penalty whether Beaton wanted to give it or not. He would have had zero choice but to give that as he would have been called over to look at it himself.

VAR is pointless in our country because the same idiots would make the same calls week in week out. There’s no circumstances we were getting that penalty today.

I disagree, its a bit different when the refs are asked to come over and look at it themselves. It would take balls and some explaining if that pen wasn't given after a VAR check

What explaining would happen like? The number of utterly baffling decisions that happen on a weekly basis almost always go unchallenged.

it won't stop mistakes but it will stop/reduce blatant cheating

There'd probably be an old firm favouring referee behind the screen as well, so their extremely weak penalty shout probably would've been reviewed and given if VAR was present today.
Match of the day was a shambles tonight and shows that VAR is only as good as the people behind it.

Definitely would have been given a penalty if VAR was getting used in the game today, anyone who says it would have made no difference are only kidding them self on

Agree, under a VAR review that was 100% given as it was a clear and obvious error by the ref.

Anyone who thinks that VAR would dramatically change things in Scotland should watch the Liverpool vs Spurs game. Paul Tierney is probably the best referee in England right now but his VAR colleague (whoever he was) was no help at all. Kane's tackle in the first half was a shocker and should have been a red card - given that that was the standard then Robertson's actual red card should have not have been. What I really don't understand though is that whenever the referee goes to the monitor he changes his decision every single time. How long do we have to wait until the referee says no, I think I was right the first time?

I'm not sure VAR would make a big difference as someone else noted. You only have to look at their games in Europe to see the difference when 50/50 calls go to either side as opposed to one side. Yesterday they might have got a penalty with McGinn's stupid push, but the celtic player held his leg strangely. Our penalty looked a clear 2 handed push that everyone bar that prick Sutton said was a stonewall penalty. Imagine if he was doing the VAR!!

What would have happened yesterday had we VAR would have been Celtic getting the penalty for McGinn’s push and the one on Porteous being deemed no foul.

All VAR would bring to Scottish football would be the old firm getting even more decisions their way.

Judging by some of the refereeing decisions I saw from down South at the weekend I'm not sure it would be much better

I’m really not sure we would’ve got the penalty if we had VAR. Its still down to the same ***** refs to make the calls, and those same ***** refs won’t want to upset the “big two”.

Look at the Man City v Newcastle game at the weekend, an absolutely clear cut penalty for Newcastle not given. It’s not even worth a debate, the foul was clear as day. Nae pen.

It removes the “is he bias or just incompetent?” questions though. FWIW Beaton is bias. Die hard rangers fan who then tries his hardest to not upset Celtic for this reason.

Absolute madness he gets big matches.
