Now that we have had the "Parking at Hampden" thread what about a driving away from Hampden one. I'm one of the many .netters parking at Clyde College

Is it actually quicker to head west and pick up the M8 just before it crosses the Clyde - I've been stuck more than once trying to get through Polmadie to the M74

I think if parking in Clyde College you sometimes need to wait 15/20
Mins to get out.

Do you have google maps ? Maybe use that ?

I found after the semi final to avoid Polmadie and go Kings Park way and it was really quick. The other way was gridlock and didn’t want to sit in traffic.

Depends which team wins I guess and how the game goes.

I can kinda see where you mean. Do you go down onto the East Kilbride Expressway then and up to Eurocentral?

I’d thought about going left up Cathcart road towards hutchesontown then turning right to come south onto the M74 from there … don’t know if it’s a good idea tho

If you want to avoid Polmadie, and the M74 in general, take THIS (https://www.google.com/maps/dir/55.8271224,-4.2668933/55.8499073,-4.2871869/@55.8415724,-4.3117401,13z/data=!4m2!4m1!3e0) route onto the M8.

It will be a bit busier than normal but nothing like the the queue to get on the M74

Yeah that's actually a decent shout, basically my way back to the house but it makes sense even for those ultimately heading east.

Excellent, I think I will use that instead of my more convoluted route up to the M8

To be fair, it's still not very clear which bit you park in, could be a wee adventure tomorrow lol

There does appear to be a carpark on a wee side street in front of the college

Think the instructions say there is an intercom at the college and you ring that and the guy comes and lets you in.

If you win then you'd be best heading towards the City Centre after the match and going on the M8 at the Kingston Bridge as you don't want to be heading back towards Hampden.

If you lose then head through Kings Park, down to Rutherglen and jump on the M74 at Rutherglen/Dalmarnock.

East Kilbride Expressway is the best route back, then pick up the M8 of the A725.

Jings .. happy I booked a car park close to the ground. Now
.. depressed with the issues about getting out of Clyde College and back to the M8

So. When we win, I’ll sit for an hour is so, singing‘Sunshine on Leith’ to myself

or, in the unlikely event that we lose, I’ll sit disconsolate in my seat with a dolefull expression

Either way I’ll, get my 1 minute of fame on the telly 🤡🤡

Across to Shawlands and get on the 4. If I end up getting off the 4 in Bingham tomorrow morning I'll know we won the cup.

Sitting on the mega bus now. £3 ticket, nice and comfy. Almost empty. Something to think about if you don’t fancy the drive . Leaving Buchanan street all day.

This is the turn off on Prospecthill Road. It's directly behind the hospital (the new one,not the one being knocked down)

There should be somebody at the barrier just after you turn into the side street towards the college

I had booked Clyde College too but hearing tales about how long it takes to get out means I’m parked up on one of the wee side streets off Calder St (where I normally park). Will be interesting to hear if there was difficulty getting out of that car park

Went via junction 20 of M8 and then back via the East Kilbride expressway. Apart for some Celtic fans getting chased by a cop, they had banged on the car roof, no issues

Brilliant route. Went to the game the exact same way, no traffic and parked quickly, getting away was so easy, again little to no traffic or queuing, onto M77 and M8 easy peasy.

Out Toryglen way to Rutherglen on the way home tonight is probably up there with my worst cup final experiences now. Painful.

It’s the way to do it - a guy I work with gave me these directions (using the EK expressway) years ago and they’re brilliant.

To be fair most of my time was spent trying to get out of the car park so maybe that wouldn't have helped much!

Aww, that’s excellent. I’ll use it the next time.

But does Keith’s route home only work if we are at that end of the stadium. If we were in the “normal” end, would you run into away fans??

It’s a wee bit of a walk but I always park the other side of Rutherglen Main Street. In the car and away no problem.

I parked at Clyde College and left the car park about 15 minutes later, turned left and headed up through Polloksheilds to the M8 and was home by quarter past 6.
Will use that place again (obviously expecting us back at Hampden more often) good shout 👍

Whoever suggested the college car park, and Keith_M for his route home, share the man of the match award. Left Hampden at full time and dropped passengers off in Morningside at 6.15pm. I'm middle aged and a dad so I get very excited about this kind of thing.
