His last couple of performances have been a marked improvement on Doig, especially from a defensive stance. Should be his place to lose just now.

Yes Lewis should 100% play in the final.

Absolutely, We need Stevos experience for the final, we look much more solid with him in the team.

I agree but it's not the left back position that is the main weakness. The whole central defence, including midfield, needs to up their game.

I would love Lewis to end his career as he started it, with a cup win

Obviously he doesn't offer as much going forward as Doig but that was never his game. Stevenson was solid defensively last night and put in a few hard challenges to show he still has plenty to give for hibs

I’ve been thinking a lot recently that Doig is more suited to a left midfield position than defence… though ver the past 2 seasons he has flourished going forward but I feel he is just a body at the back, doesn’t really offer much in the way of defensive duties.

Lewy last night made some fantastic challenges to stop Dundee attacks, and I pointed out to my mates that Doig would likely have stood off their attackers and not committed to a tackle….

I’d love to see Doig play in front of Lewy and give the team width on both sides….

Boyle playing wide with Doidge and Nisbet in the centre was also a welcome return.

Maybe in the last third Doig is better, I'd say it is close. However going forward often starts with a pass from the defence and Lewis is a good deal better at getting the ball up the park and retaining possession than Josh is. I find it hard to believe Lewis has got so few minutes this season when we have been so poor in defence and when Josh really hasn't offered too much in goals or assists. NO surprise to me that Lewis comes in and we start picking up points

Totally agree with this.

I'm just not sure what people are seeing when they talk about him being not good enough. Although I think he may have lost a wee bit of his (deceptive) pace he's more than made up for it with his reading of the game and timing. He has a fantastic first touch, is an excellent short passer and very strong in the tackle- for the life of me I can't see anything that would make you think he's sub-standard. Crossing would be his one obvious weakness but he's a very fine player- sad he's under appreciated by quite a few. I've said it before- I do rate Josh Doig as a prospect, but Lewis is still better for the team at this stage.

His crossing is miles better than it used to be. He's clearly worked on it.

It has been quite comforting to see Josh Doig shell a few crosses out behind the goals in the recent past, as well as few megastars playing in the glamour leagues on the telly. Getting the odd one wrong is part and parcel of being a modern fullback/ wingback.

My biggest criticism would still be his occasional reluctance to take players on down the outside and his safe preference for doubling back and retaining possession when there was a chance to drive on. Doig has that part of his game and Lewis doesn't. It sometimes makes Lewis a wee bit predictable and a wee bit easier to play against.

Lewis Stevenson has actually evolved into a very complete player and is ridiculously underappreciated by some.

Definitely a more reliable defender than Doig which is not a dig at Doig.

Would always be hard to emulate last seasons performances for Doig and this is his first season at a club the size of Hibs with crowds.

Do you think Doig could be moulded into a left sided winger?

As someone who likes Josh Doig but never quite got the £5million claims I too hope that Lewis is in the starting line up.

Lewis is very good defensively and his distribution is far better than Josh’s.

Josh is very good at carrying the ball from the edge of our penalty area to the opposition 18 yard box, but like Lewy, could not be considered dangerous in any attacking sense.

I didn't say all is sorted and well in the world. I don't think the playing side right now is a shambles, we've got ourself back on course a bit, and are looking good for a new manager soon. A week is a long time in football.

I'd still say off the pitch there is an element of shambles about it. Only time will tell if that has changed.

You have to remember he’s still a really young boy and is still learning his trade. The club see him as the future and Stevenson as backup, that’s why I think they’ll go with Doig. For me I’m not fussed, it’s a strong position for us at the moment.

I doubt Doig was unwell when Gray picked Stevenson and left him on the bench against St Mirren. With a good performance from Stevenson in both games even if Doig is back surely the position picks itself?
