I thought Gilmour was meant to be consistently the best performer in the Norwich team, certainly is if you go by the BBC ratings week upon week. However, it appears the Norwich fans may think differently. I had a look on a Norwich forum as I was curious to see what they were saying and he's getting slated.

Has anyone seen how he's been playing for them? Stats-wise he's their best passer with approx 85% accuracy.

Some seem to think he should be playing defence-cutting passes and creating chances. But that isn't really his game as he plays more side to side.

They're not good enough and play a style that suits Pukki and counter attack. Hes been as good as anyone when Ive seen them. It was an odd place to go. He'll have another loan next season Id imagine as Chelsea have Gallagher and RLC below ****e, Jorginho and Kovacic.

A brilliant footballer they are lucky to have him.

He's a very technical player who thrives with movement ahead of him and having plenty of possession, playing for the worst team in the league. That's all it comes down to for me.

He would definitely benefit from trying to add goals to his game though.

Saw a tweet during the week on this subject. Prior to tonight’s game he was

1st for assists
1st for progressive passes
1st for passes into the final 3rd
2nd key passes
2nd in expected assists
2nd in shot creating passes

For the Norwich squad who’ve played a minimum of 5 games this season.

That should end any debate but some folk will no doubt turn their nose up at “stats”!

I think the problem is, he thrives off his side having a lot of possession, very good player with the ball.

Against most teams, Norwich will have less possession, hence halting what Gilmour can do and stops him from playing at his best.

I don't think he's the type of player who looks especially good in a struggling side. You need blood and snotters, not guys who run the show when in possession. Very talented kid, though. Should've loaned him to a decent Spanish side
