Wednesday night was the first time for a while I can remember seeing so many players who have come through our set-up on the park at once; 5 starters with 2 on the bench.

I really hope Gullan can kick on and become a useful player to have around the squad, it speaks volumes that a player like Scott didn't get the starting slot and one our graduates did - and did well by all accounts. Maybe, like Campbell he just needs a wee run of games which he will likely get with this mental run we're having.

I think one first team player breaking through every two years would be a reasonable return for our academy, though the more the merrier obviously

Porteous broke through in 2018, and Doig in 2020. We’re probably nearly due another.

Was thinking this myself.

Not only that but the overall age of our team is very young

Macey - 27
McGinn - 31
Porteous - 22
Hanlon - 31
Cadden - 25
JDH - 22
Newell - 28
Doig - 19
Campbell - 21
Gullan - 22
Nisbet - 24

Rather experienced at the back but the attacking positions and the ones we rely on to make a difference are all young.

Great to see.

Especially when you consider Magennis, Mackay, Tait and Bradley are all highly rated and will play a part in our team over the years.

Interesting to see that the following have now broke into our first team from the youth team that won the double in 2018 - Josh Campbell, Jamie Gullan, Sean Mackie, Fraser Murray, Ryan Porteous, and Oli Shaw. All had various levels of success but I’d say that’s a very good return.
