Didn't catch all the FM's speech today but it is saying that "Everyone in Scotland is being asked to carry out a lateral flow test before any social mixing"

Does that mean attending games?

Maybe someone who listened to the speech can clarify and no comments about what else was said during the speech, keep that for the Holy Ground

Its not enforced and entirely up to you to decide when you are doing that

Obvioulsy they are free to order and stock up on

It’s not compulsory - just saying at the moment they ask you to do 2 per week, but would like you to up that to as much as possible and every time before socialising.

Nothing has changed yet from double vaxed or negative lateral flow test to gain entry.

It’s a small thing that gives peace of mind and generally makes a difference.

When I got COVID the Monday and Tuesday I thought I had a really unfair hangover from the weekend.

Turns out it was COVID. I was able to test my whole house (eldest and I had it, wife and youngest didn’t) and isolate accordingly.

She went to her empty parents house (they were on holiday) and my eldest and I stayed at home.

Didn’t start coughing and losing taste and smell until the Wednesday.

So LFT definately caught it early.

The PCR disaster down here is another story.

Two negatives (drive through) before a positive (mail order).

Funny still no consequences to that particular lab.

I’ve had covid twice now - and not one LFD has picked up on it. First time I done multiple and thought I was dying hence going for PCR, this time felt the exact same as first time hence why I knew it was covid, but still LFD negative - PCR confirmed positive. No issues with doing the test as I do the PCR same was as LFD.

LFT picked up that I had covid before I went to visit elderly relatives. Ten days' isolation was a pain, but knowing I hadn't killed any of them made it worthwhile..

As someone else said, do them twice a week.

It's probably quite a timely reminder for this tbh.

I was religiously testing 2 or 3 times a week until a couple of months ago and now I'm a lot more sporadic. A wee boot up the erse to do it a bit more regularly is no bad thing.

My daughter caughtt COVID last Sunday. I did have a cough but my LFT were still negative for 3 days after and it was only when NHS called me as a close contact to get a PCR. It came back positive. So they are not as effective as PCR, but everyone should be testing at least LFT, but iIm not convinced enough people are which explains why the virus is spreading so much.

You could have booked your own PCR as soon as your daughter tested positive. Could have saved you a few days isolation time.

I have just caught it and the LFT was spot on, did it twice to make sure rest of the family had negative tests whilst the wife had to do a PCR test as she works for the NHS. It was clear. Keep doing them folks.

June (post london) and a couple of weeks ago, and double vaxed. Had the first dose before I went to london - got covid, then had the second dose in august.

First time out thought I was dying - although in reality it was just an extreme bout of flu like symptoms, cold and hot shivers, sweats, turned into a horrendous choking cough, took a week to get some life back about me and then lost my taste for 3 weeks!

This time it was the same but far milder. Biggest factor for me is the shortness of breath. It’s not a nice thing to have, but the LFD’s never once picked it up. Would always just take a PCR where required now although I get that LFD’s have worked for some.

I had covid a month ago. Lateral flow was negative but pcr positve. I was told that the negative result on a lateral flow test is unreliable but if it’s a positive result you’re definitely positive.

I caught the dreaded supercold off my granddaughter and did 2 flow tests just to make sure, both negative of course but a simple way to test yourself.
