I said the other day I thought he was finished.

Happy to admit I was wrong, some sexy football today - maybe he just needs to play a bit more?

''at best''? Do you know what that actually means?

At best, he is one of the best attacking players in the league. Sadly his body has really let him down. Still loads to contribute.

Great performance.

Now has to do that regularly. I hope he does.

Scott Allan changed that game for us. Why he is not played is a mystery to me!!!!

Great player but is a luxury when we are playing counter attacking against better sides unfortunately. He does have a huge part to play in the squad though. Just sublime at times in the right environment.

Unseen work
27-11-2021, 04:06 PM
Games and moments of magic today makes it even more frustrating!

At times he comes on and doesn’t look sharp, looks a bit weak and struggled to keep the ball.

But when the game is being played like that and he had people in and around him he’s something else.

A couple of his touches were sublime and that assist is excellent, never mind the brilliant turn but to have the composure and vision to play that pass is extraordinary

I think he's important squad player, but 90 minutes at the level we want to play is a bit beyond him now. I don't think he'll care that much if he's setting up goals and scoring though.

EVENTUALLY

Some win when you consider we had Boyle and Doidge missing.

Let's get Easter Road rocking on Wednesday and get behind the team after a roller-coaster week.

This thread is a waste of time. Despite his contribution today the next time he gets 10 minutes and looks rusty the same posters will be quick to point out again that he’s finished. It’s not the first time this season he’s made a significant contribution.

Maybe he’s not the same player he once was but I’d still rather have him in the team than not. Sad state of affairs for me that our manager would rather have a midfield of Newell, JDH and Campbell.

Maybe he would love to have SA in the team each week, but he might just not be able to play that much any longer

I'm going to go against the grain here and say i think today was perfect for him, playing against 10 men he did not have to do the defensive part of the game so much, and it helped him a lot.

He's one of my favorite players in the last 20 odd years, but as a starter i dont think we can carry him these days as a starter. :timebomb:

I doubt we’ll find that out in a Hibs jersey sadly. I’d be surprised if St Mirren were prepared to take him on loan for the season if they didn’t believe he could play more than he is currently doing so with us.

I agree 100%. There’s games and situations that are perfect for him. He needs to and often does produce in them. He’s a role to play. Particularly with the amount of games we are faced with both pre January and after the split.

I think JR knows it too. Today's set up was perfect for Scotty and JR managed the situation well. Credit to the manager today too.

The defensive side of his game was never great. Surely it’s up to our manager to find a system that plays to his strengths, not focus on his weaknesses ? The current midfield has very little creativity.

We haven’t carried him in the games he’s started this year though.

Dundee Utd away, goal and assist.
St Johnstone home, MOTM.
Rangers away, controlling the game until the sending off which meant he was taken off.
Dundee Utd home, every player was pish although he was the one hooked.

He's just not good enough to build a team around now, unfortunately. Great player to have on the bench to bring on when needing goals though.

He’s not getting enough of a run in the team for me to come to that conclusion. One bad half/performance and he’s hooked/dropped for the following games whereas others are allowed consecutive poor games yet start the next one.
