Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere but deeply sinister.

I heard about it last night. The WTA are not going to do anything in China until they have conclusive evidence that she’s safe.

Absolutely disgraceful hope she's found safe and well.

The leadership in China are a total disgrace and seem to be able to get away with anything.
They need another revolution.

There was unconfirmed video shown on telly this morning of her sitting in a room full of soft toys. If genuine then she is safe. If not then it is Chinese propaganda.

Does she regularly post videos of herself in a room full of cuddly toys?
She's alive, but she will be 'learning' what she can and cannot say going forward.

She was very active on social media and for her to post nothing in the last week with all the media surrounding her is telling. As long as she or her family lives in China she'll not be able to say the truth, if she is alive

I'm not sure if people remember the ultra marathon in China a couple of years ago in which 21 runners died.
Afterwards a few survivors took to Weibo to share their stories. Not long after they all became very concerned about their privacy, removed their posts, asked the press to leave them alone and the stories slowly disappeared. There was a relentless assault on social media against them calling them cowards, accusing them off showing off because they survived and making China look bad.
At the same time government officials started following their families and 'discouraged' them from meeting up.
Purely a coincidence I'm sure.

It's appalling that the Winter Olympics are going to a country where the state intimidates athletes.
I'm surprised anyone is surprised.
While the rest of the world condones China by things like awarding summer and winter Olympics and contracts for nuclear reactors and individuals buy stuff by the billion China's government is bullet proof.
Stop buying cheap **** from Amazon and Groupon. Look to see where you're buying from!
PS I have no intention of visiting China.

:top marks
It's almost impossible to completely cut out buying Chinese produced products, due to the greed of all those companies that outsourced their manufacturing, but I think people really need to cut down on the amount of unnecessary crap from the likes of Amazon Vouchers.
Just think of all the millions of completely unnecessary plastic garbage that folk are going to waste money on this Christmas, almost all of which is made in China, the world's biggest polluter and the world's largest Totalitarian State.

Not to take away from the perfectly justified criticism of their regime… but China is a spectacular and beautiful country, filled with good people.
