Just watched sky news and saw the goals from yesterday's Rangers game. One of their players was lying injured in County's box and looked to be in obvious pain. Nevertheless, Rangers continued to play on and eventually scored a goal whilst their own player was still flailing about on the ground. Why in the future, should any team now stop play if a Rangers player is injured and in need of attention when they won't even do it for one of their own?

The next time a Sevco player is in that much distress I'll happily volunteer to go and administer the last rites........ :greengrin

That's hardly what happened though was it? 2 players involved and it lasted seconds, I doubt either player saw him lying in the box through a crowd of bodies.
On the point of playing on in general though, every team should play to the whistle whether it's their own player or not.

Obviously Bobby Madden wasn't the ref.

Why can’t the fourth official / assistant refs make a call about letting medical staff on? That’s assuming that a rugby style approach can’t work for football as presumably it would be open to abuse?
That’s one thing that pisses me off about football - the often blatant feigning of injuries.

Of all the things to have a go at Rangers about, this is clutching at straws.
Your player is down injured, there's no rule that you have to put the ball out.

I think it's the hypocrisy of expecting the opposition to do it when you don't do it yourself that's being called out.

A charge we could throw at every team in the league including our own.

I've seen this happen so many times at the football I honestly couldn't count if I had 10 hands.
Player is down injured, their team has the ball in a threatening position and play on, team surrender possession and suddenly the fans become really concerned for their player and start booing the opposition for doing exactly what their own team were doing, the players also become far more concerned and start gesticulating at the sidelines urging their opponents to put the ball out.
Of all the things to have a go at Rangers about this is pretty low down my list. Primarily because I've seen Hibs do it multiple times as well.

You see it all the time now, always annoys me when I see a team give in to it as well. The refs job to stop the game, play to the whistle, primary school stuff.

Except primary school kids don't feign injury or dive or cheat. They just get on with it.

I'm sure I recall many years back (not sure if at the time he was at Meadowbank or Stenhousemuir) at the start of season Terry Christie wrote to every other manager in the league advising he did not expect opposition players to put the ball out of play for injuries to his player. His players would do likewise and carry on for opposition injuries - all onus to stop the game on the referee to decide on severity.

Just adopt rugby rules and allow help during play. Play doesn’t stop. If they are genuinely injured they get help ASAP. If they aren’t they won’t be rolling around knowing their team will be down a man as play continues. Will stop time wasting and any “issues” we have now.
The ref isn’t a doctor. He shouldn’t be the arbiter of what needs the game stopped or not. There was also an incident in the Watford v Arsenal game at the weekend.

Far too sensible.
