I’m sure he was a lovely man, rest in peace and all that, but I think the red tops description of him as a entertainment ‘Legend’ is a tad over the top. Was on the telly a lot in the 80s and did a good job. The L word really means nothing anymore seemingly. When I was a lad it was reserved for an Elvis or a Sammy Davis Jr.

True enough. The only thing I know Lionel Blair for is Give us A Clue. Una Stubbs was captain of the women's team. I'm sure he must have been a big star at some point.
92 is a great innings. RIP old Lionel.

He was a great showbiz dancer. He appeared on countless shows in the days when families sat down after tea and watched Saturday night telly together.
Give Us a Clue was good too. Coincidentally Una Stubbs died recently - in Edinburgh.

He was a big part of the transition from the variety era of Astaire, Kelly and Jack Buchanan to the television age. In those former times, dancers were an integral part of any show. As variety moved on to television, he kept that tradition going. In the 60s, everyone knew who he was.

Well, I didn't know either of these gents personally so I'm going by what they meant to me in terms of memories. Blair I associate with nights in with the family watching entertainment on TV. Smith I associate with the despicable club he served and their moronic supporters shaming Scotland at every turn.
Yeah I miss Blair more. Anyway what's this thread about if it's not about memories and associations?

Aye well if that's your way of thinking when somebody passes away, then I guess it's a case of each to their own eh
