Oh well, that's one thing Ross can no longer blab on about I suppose?

Did he ever blab on about it? Mentioned it once which was fair enough

Mentioned it a few times over last few weeks.

I'll criticise where I see fit, thanks.

Was mentioned on Sportsound earlier saying we have been in the top 4 for the last 15 months.

Being in the top 4 for as long as we were is an impressive stat, I think it's hard to argue otherwise.

For fans though football is often about so much more than the end result. We saw that with Scotland during the last couple fo weeks as well.

Someone like Craig Levein was rarely out the top 4 in his earlier career, with both Hearts and Dundee Utd. His style meant he was never likely to be universally popular though albeit it's hard to make a case against the end result. I think JR is a bit like that. Some people will just never take to him for various reasons and the end result won't completely negate the journey there.

He did mention it a few times, mainly because it's an impressive stat.

Honesty don't think that performance today can be solely blamed on Jack Ross. Really really poor application from the majority of the team.

It didn’t look like the players understood what the game plan was today. I didn’t either.

I just couldn't believe how slow we looked. I know other than Boyle we're hardly a pacey team. But Jesus, it looked like we were at the tail end of a 50 game season and they were 10 games into a new one.

Still think it's harsh to blame all that on JR and that's coming from someone who hasn't always been impressed by him.

Not sure what JR gets from the analysts from the week's training but assume feedback did not identify that energy levels were low in the squad. I still do not understand the reluctance to use subs, especially after Utd's second goal in 50 min.

The one positive we have about dropping out of the top four is that we lose the fear of dropping out of the top four ;)

We’ll pick anything to complain about when we’re having a temper tantrum won’t we? Consolation is it wasn’t a big game.

We lost it though, so surely that means this was a big game?

If you have ambitions of finishing in the top 3 or 4 , every game is a big game.

Definitely. So JR has won more big games than he's lost so far this season.

I used to think that but it’s been explained that there’s a sliding scale of importance.

Are we back to pretending that people don't understand that fans place more importance on some game than others?

You really could just read any thread on this forum that was started post match any week between now and about 2005 and, win or lose, it would be the same daft arguments over and over again.

I’ve been in here since about 2003 and although there’s always been complaints post defeat the drama is increasing. Folk seem to be trying to outdo each other on how upset they are.

The big game stuff only really appeared last year when folk complained we kept winning the easy games and not enough of the hard games.

Was it only last year people started pretending they didn't really understand why a game against Hearts was, at least in the minds of fans, bigger than one against Ross County as well?

All at the time of the moving feast of what counts as a big game started so I think so.

Hope he gets to use the stat again at some point but on that performance we might need to look below us not above. It that is the best starting 11 we can put out most teams will beat us
