An exceptionally well liked and respected golf journalist and broadcaster. Passed away at 82 after contracting Covid.

Already a thread about this on 'Other Sports' but I thought he merited a mention on here seeing he was a lifelong Hibs fan.

Didn't realise he had died of Covid.
He was an absolute gent.

His sporting knowledge was second to none. Loved some of his golfing chat. Narrated many a golf major official films.

I didn’t ever meet Renton but I did work with his father Harry in the offices of Christian Salvesen in Constitution Street in the early 70s. He was a true gent and I can tell you Renton looked very like his dad in his later years.

As I've mentioned on the other thread he was also a close friend of Bernard Gallacher, who is of course another lifelong Hibby.
