View Full Version : Sir David Gray (not that one!) - A Thank You

Over the last few weeks the coronavirus thread has started to wind down a little, whilst still busy it is not as hectic as it once was.

One of the features of that thread since the very beginning has been the daily updates by Sir David Gray. It's almost a ritual now that just after 2pm I go onto the thread to get a quick snapshot of the latest figures and every day, almost without fail, the figures are there. In addition to that he has provided links to various interesting and informative news stories throughout the last 18 months.

In a thread that has often been typified by it's robust debate and often heated exchanges, the daily figures presented in a set format has been a welcome and constant feature. As such all of the admin team at hibs.net wish to express our thanks to SDG publicly. As a small token of our thanks we have given him 2 years free private membership.

Thanks folks, I'm really quite touched that this has meant so much to so many people and I really appreciate the admin team's kind gesture as well.

As I've said quite a few times recently, I'd be lying if I said it's been a pleasure as it's clearly been the most horrendous 18 months that many of us will ever go through and hopefully we never experience anything like this ever again.

I first of all got involved with providing the daily stats and other info as a way of coping with it all myself. I'm the kind of person who likes to keep up to date with things like this and it helped me to know what was going on. The fact that it has helped quite a number of other people as well is something I am really happy about.

We have had our arguments along the way and I include myself in that too. As much as the Covid thread is largely about providing information and the daily figures and stats, I think it's impossible to discuss this sort of subject without debating the various decisions which have been taken and the restrictions we have had to live under along the way.

In the main though, I think those debates were kept relatively healthy and civil.

Thanks once again to everyone who has commented so far and I'll see you all over on the Covid thread at 2pm sharp. :greengrin

A massive thank you SDG, in a sea of misinformation and general guff about Covid elsewhere in the online world you've made the Corona virus thread a 'go too' for the last 18 months.

Thanks again! :agree:

My daughter works in Public Health so was aware of these figures but thanks for posting as it keeps it in focus for everyone on how serious this virus has been. I can't remember the posters name but the person who was providing info on the vaccinations at the EICC deserves a bit of praise also, sure it put peoples minds at rest.
Thanks again SDG

Though I posted on the thread only a few times, it was always a go to for me. The stats and other info provided kept me up to date and meant I didn’t ever have to read of them in the skewed manner the media uses.

I agree SDG and Stairway 27 have both been outstanding at keeping us up to date on the stats and information we needed to know. Goosano and Lovethehibs have been superb in the vaccine side of things. Thanks to them all. I went through a stage of avoiding the media for the sake of my mental health and their information helped me do that.
