This could have a massive bearing. Personally speaking I hope it's someone like Collum, Beaton or Madden.
Aye they make mistakes but we are as likely to benefit as Rangers.
Look forward to this opinion being eviscerated!

Madden would be best but if it’s Walsh we should be throwing every stat and dodgy decision in the press before it and make it very difficult for him to give dodgy decision without fear of backlash and I told you so comments. Doesn’t mean he won’t but if it’s in the papers saying we expect it then he has to be on his guard.

Collum or Madden for me.
Mad to say, as both of them are incompetent, but I’d trust the two of them not to be cheats for the Huns. The rest of them can GTF

Don’t really care who the ref is. I’ve never once went to a football match and worried about or had even the remotest interest in who the ref would be.
We need to make sure our players turn up because some of them have a habit of doing a disappearing act in big games.
I’d be more concerned about that.

Craig Thomson after 2012?
Alan Muir after the Falkirk play offs?
Clancy after the Lennon debacle?
Walsh after sending Bartley off three times, and each of those getting rescinded?
Walsh yesterday?
Just about every game against the Huns since 2016?
You better believe I get the fear when seeing some referees names.
Collum and Madden are the only refs I don’t think are cheats - just incompetents.

Nick Walsh is a PE teacher at Boclair Academy which is part of the Rangers "elite schools program" and he's still allowed to take charge of their games. All you need to know about Scottish football!!!🙄🙄

It's a difficult one. I think Collum is the best(?) of that bunch. Brother Bobby and Brother Beaton are Hun cheats. Can Stevie McLean do it? If not, god knows. Don Robertson or Greg Aitken.

Yesterday showed very clearly that turning up and being the best side isn't all that is required in these games. So many games have been decided by some ridiculous refereeing decisions in the last decade or so. Forster, Shaw, Griffith, Falkirk play offs, most The Thes games etc etc. Massive changes of fortune that had nothing to do with our players and everything to do with, at best, wholly incompetent officials.

Here is an article apologies behind a paywall for me which explains the working of referees in Scotland and the powerful regional referee bodies. All are in or border Glasgow. Quite simply staggering to be honest. The most galling stat was that 100 years after the first Scottish cup final only one Edinburgh referee had been given the final. Kind of shows where the power is and remains.

I think he thinks its futile trying to challenge dodgy refs and we should concentrate on winning handicapped or something along those lines, oh and the players are weak minded if they cant beat 12 men. I think that's the jist of it.

Can't see him getting the game, not after yesterdays **** storm he caused. Lets see if he has a pair of balls and looks at the red during our appeal and reduces it to a yellow? Can reds be overturned to nothing as no offence was committed?

Thomson was actually quite kind to ourselves after 2012, there were a few games where he either reffed very well or we benefited from decisions. I can't remember specifics but I do remember it being discussed in here a few times with posters commenting he obviously knew he was under a watchful eye following the 2012 final.

I'm with you HC, no way Walsh gets the game after the controversy yesterday.
Probably be downgraded to a yellow and a claim it still was a bit reckless, but acknowledgement it wasn't a red. Little good that does after the game granted.
It will be Walsh again. Absolute certainty.

Then made up for it by failing to send the Falkirk centre half off for a penalty incident in the second leg of the play off in 2016.

We're not exactly spoiled for choice are we?
Steven McLean has done us no favours since 21/5/2016 as far as I recall.
Collum because of his religious background tends to over-compensate to the Huns in games I've seen.
Please God, don't let Walsh get it, or Beaton or Clancy. For me it would have to be Bobby Madden, even though he has Hun connections apparently in his younger days. He's probably the best of an extremely bad bunch.

Came here to say this. Doesn't take anything away from just how awful he was in the 2012 final but he picked his ideas up and never had a bad game involving Hibs again.
Was it not Thomson that reffed the 2 nil down at Tynie game?
And if you watch it 5 million times like I did, when Hanlon scored Thomson didn’t raise his arm towards half way line to confirm goal he stood for a number of seconds. I am willing to bet my life he was thinking about how he could chop the goal off. Imagine.

lol. You’ll need to take my word for this but I’ve probably seen more Hibs matches than most.
I’m not interested in pointing fingers at refs when we lose. I rather prefer to look at our players and their effort/ performance levels.
Far too many times we blame refereeing decisions when in actual fact it’s our so called hero’s in Green & White who have let us all down.
The 1-5 cup final is the perfect example.
Yes you can point the finger at the referee, however O’Conner & Co were a disgrace to the jersey that day and ought to be ashamed of themselves!

We were 2 1 down when Thomson wrongly awarded a penalty and sent our player off. On a thread about a ref you've managed 2 negative posts about Hibs players. That takes some doing!

It was a second yellow for Kujabi despite it being well outside the box.
On the other hand, he would never have got his first yellow for tangling with Black because Black should have been long gone for his forearm smash on Griffiths had Cheat Thomson applied the rules.

He’s not been mentioned yet, which suggests he wasn’t controversial(?) but Crawford Allan was a decent referee and from EOS.
Worked with Crawford in a professional capacity. I would forever pull his leg for his record at Easter Road. Every game ended in a draw barre the one game I couldn’t go to (5-3 League Cup win against Stranraer). He was “part” of our winning 2016 cup run. In charge for 1st ICT game - yep a draw, knew that before a ball was kicked :greengrin. Couldn’t do the replay due to other commitments and the rest, as we know, is history!
For the upcoming semi?
Don Robertson or David Munro seem reasonable but maybe not senior enough yet.
