Still obviously a quality player. Handled Boyle and Nisbet running at him with ease.

Given his performance for Livi at ER at the end of last season I thought he was done. Looked good yesterday though.

Man I wish we could have kept him up here. A rolls Royce of a player when he’s on it.

Loved him at Hibs. Was gutted when he left, and still disappointed to see him line up against us. Should have stayed, the beauty of hindsight..

Too late now for Efe but thanks for the memories.

Had them both in his pocket despite not looking fully fit.
I got the feeling at Livingston that his heart wasn't in it and he might have been working on Efe time.
Could be a major player for St J. and I think Davidson will get him to toe the line on the training front ......most of the time.

He was playing out his skin when he decided to move on and I can vividly remember his nutmeg against the hertz in what might have been his last game for us. I was one of his biggest critics but he won me over and with hindsight he definitely should have stayed

Must have missed him chopping down Martin Boyle in first half when Beaton chose not to give us a free kick?

Didn't re-sign with us because he wanted to go looking for more money. F%&k him.

Don't really hold that against him. He has no emotional connection to Hibs, it's just his job and it's normal to want to maximize his earnings.

Wanted to leave. Wanted the money. Didn't care about us. Hope Saturday hurt and hope he enjoys the relegation battle.

Of course it is and would never argue against that, but I'm not going to gush over a guy that left us for more cash.

To be fair Boyle and Nisbet are not fully fit either

Yeah, that's true. Aside from that was excellent

Thought he looked good for about 70 mins and then, inexplicably, he decided to start clearing high balls with his knees instead of his head/feet. Resulting in the ball bouncing off him in every position imaginable.

Love the big man. Thought he looked class at the weekend personally and was let down by his centre half partner getting sent off (and the penalty).

I thought he was finished at Livi but he's been great for St Johnstone since signing.

He’s a great replacement for Kerr to steady the ship. Bags of experience, bags of ability and rarely puts a foot wrong.

It is a great bit of business considering how late they lost Kerr too. He'll certainly fill the gap left behind in terms of quality and leadership for this season, after that depends on his body given his age.

He was the frontrunner for POTY when he left. Would have almost certainly won it if he'd stayed.

He's lost it. At one point he passed the ball back to the goalie to clear. An "on it" Efe would have gone on a run....

I’m not so sure he came close to having anybody in his pocket, he’s not the player he was. I wouldn’t be pushing any of our current defenders out now for him.

Ha ha, I noticed that too. I thought it was an accident the first time he did it, after all anyone can mis-time a clearance. He then knee-ed one so high that it went behind him - utterly bizarre but typical of him. Life would be duller without players like him!

I noticed he got really big hugs from a few of our players at full time. Clearly has a lot of friends at ER.

Loved him when he played with us but thought he looked a shadow of his former self on Saturday, also thought he looked a good bit smaller .

I have to admit I didn't realise it was Ambrose .... at one point in the 2nd half I said to my mate that we should be lumping the ball up the park to 'that guy' coz he's got a heid like a 50p piece :greengrin

He's great to watch. Rarely wastes a ball, rarely makes a backwards or sideways Pass.

Tbf, I think Porto has a lot of his good attributes.

Agree thought was pretty ordinary. Passed the ball sideways and only went on one run late on which was easily snuffed out. Thought we were more dangerous at our corners because of Efe's lack of challenge.

I don't remember Boyle or Nisbet getting anything out of him on Saturday despite Efe looking well short of fitness after no pre season and only signing for St J. 2 weeks before the Hibs game.
He has wasted the last 30 months but is still only 32 and has never had chronic injuries.
If he avoids injury until he reaches a good fitness level I reckon Davidson will get a decent tune out of him.
I rate our two central defenders so wasn't and wouldn't suggest replacing them with Efe but I do like watching the big guy.

You could also argue that Ambrose lost a game of football against a team who had most of their attacking players not training all week.

whilst technically correct no one, assessing his performance, would worry that someone who had a fine game ended up on the losing team…
