Working in London today and whilst bowling merrily down Wormwood Street in my Hibernian face covering, a passer-by shouted “ C’mon The Hibs” in my direction.
Sometimes it’s the little things in life that bring the most happiness.
Anyone else got a story to tell about their Hibs badge of honour in different climates?

I was on a train in London as a primary school kid with my Dad. No memory of why but I do remember an elderly gentleman looking at my Hibs bag and saying I was a long way from Easter road. He got into conversation with my Dad and it turned out he was an ex bobby from Hawick. Such a lovely guy and chatted away about the famous 5. That memory has stayed with me.
Then more recently well after midnight amongst the bars in Pattaya. Me and the wife both wearing Hibs tops were stopped by a completely pissed guy who said " Hibees mate, thats ma team" Hibs has beaten Motherwell I think earlier and he didn't even know they had played that day. After we told him he merrily staggered off singing Glory Glory at the top of his voice 😀

I was on holiday in Praia do Forte near Salvador Brazil when the rrrrs of Konte fired us into Europe. The only football top I saw was that worn by a Hibee who was with his girlfriend. I went up to him to let him know the result and we got into Europe - he was a bit taken aback to say the least :)
Another Hibs connection away from home was in Vancouver waiting in line to get in a club get chatting to this group of lads mention I’m a Hibby and it turns out the guy was mates with (blast from the past) Justin Skinner.

stopped while walking around York a few years ago, wearing a Hibs Polo Shirt.
The guy was amazed to find another Hibby and we had a good chat.
Also a few weeks ago, a woman stopped me here in Oxted when she spotted my jacket with the Hibs badge on, turns out her brother runs a bar in East Linton which is a big Hibby pub!

I have had a number of similar positive experiences in London.
My eldest has lived in Hackney for sometime now and it’s great when a simple contact far from home lifts your day.
A few weeks ago I was in the Cat & Mutton on Broadway Market for a quick pint and the barman spots the Hibs face mask and strikes up a conversation about winning the cup and Alan Stubbs. He really didn’t like The rangers!
A couple of years ago I went to London Fields lido for a swim and a St Mirren fan notices my Hibs towel (sad for a 60 year old?!). We are chatting about Scottish football and a very elderly Spurs fan joins the conversation to tell me he had seen the Famous 5 play. Interesting and unexpected.
Many years ago I was with my wife in a Turkish restaurant at Dalston. The one nonTurk in the restaurant hears the Scottish accents and starts chatting about the Hibs. Turns out he left many years previously but tries to get back at least once a season. Another good chat out of nowhere.
Hibs face mask goes everywhere with me now.

A few days after the LC Final I was passing through Security in Montreal Airport, wearing my Hibs Polo shirt. Obviously arabic looking security guy peers at the badge and slowly says "Edinburgh...Hibernian They are good team" Yes I say, lets just keep it moving pal "They win cup 5-1" WTF!!!??? Turns out he was Morrocan and followed Benji and Zemmama
I quite often say Glory Glory when passing Hibees on the streets abroad.
The week after THE cup win I was in Barcelona and Madrid and did the stadium tours (Real). I was wearing a Hibs t-shirt and officials from each club came up to me and congratulated me on our cup win after such a long time. My wife was very impressed and I was well chuffed.

More likely to be someone complaining about the price of the shorts & socks.

Never forget the time I got chatting to a couple of Millwall older fans (50-70s) at New Cross Gate.
I was with my wife at the time and so when asked the question are you Rangers or Celtic? Although knew the history I thought safe enough to mention I’m Hibs… bit of a mistake….

Another one which made me laugh was a seller of crappy wristbands in Pattaya. Again I was wearing my top and he sidled up to me and said he had no Hibs ones that day but did have one which said "**** the Hearts"

On a train in New Jersey someone walking down the aisle stopped and asked me about my hibs polo. Apparently he did a semester at Edinburgh and went to a bunch of games!

I was in Disneyland Paris just over 20 years ago with my grandparents, we went to a restaurant and my Grandad was wearing a Hibs polo shirt.
One of the waiters got all excited about it and we thought it was because of Sauzee but it was actually Marc Libbra he wanted to talk to us about.

Had a Hibs polo shirt on, drinking in a bar in midtown Manhattan. One of the punters, very much a New Yorker, came up and told me he knew "Big Frank Dougan" from several trips he'd made there.

I was in Birmingham New Street Station last week. A guy walks towards me with a Hibs tracksuit top on, I did a bit of a double take checking out the Hibs badge, the guy starts walking down the stairs next to me, catches me looking at at him and stops and aggressively says "What?". I said that I was fellow Hibby and spotted his badge. He just shook his head and went on his way.

We were in a pub when I was introduced to a black guy sporting a splendid 70s afro & a Hibs top - something you didn't see every day.
It turned out he done studies in Edinburgh & and adopted Hibs as his team.

I later posted on here and it turned out to be the young Hibby who done a bit of reporting and interviews a couple of years back possibly about Pat Fenlons time.

I was on holiday (remember those) in Kefalonia in Sept 2019. Stayed in Argostoli and before returning to the airport, I pulled into a garage to fill up with fuel. As I got out, a bloke came out from the shop and said he would do it. He then clocked I was wearing a t-shirt with the club emblem on it and just said "Tam McManus" to me - I was surprised to say the least before he went on to explain that he stayed with relations for a month or so and took in a few games at ER, Tam being his favourite player!

A funny one, was on a cruise back in 2006 with the folks, we stopped in kusadasi and I had my hibs top on with Kidd 86 on the back of it, we were walking down past some shops and as usual they were trying to entice you in to buy stuff and I wasn't interested. The guy kept shouting "kidd, Kidd come back and buy" 🤣

When I was younger - must have been 2002 or 2003ish - I went to Toronto with my dad to visit family. Went to the Skydome for a Jays game, and saw a guy wearing a Hibs shirt. My dad said to him 'you're a bit far from Easter Rd' and he nearly jumped out his skin. My memory is hazy, but I think it turned out that Hibs were meant to be touring but it had been cancelled abruptly, and the guy had already flown over

I was playing bowls.last Saturday in Lanark and didn’t anticipate the hot weather we had, I took off my jumper to reveal my RAM YER 1902 green T- shirt and let’s just say it didn’t go down too well lol. I was politely told by a club official that no club colours were allowed on the green but as it wasn’t a football top as such they’d have to allow it . The official himself whispered his in laws are mostly Hibs / Hearts.

Checking into a hotel in Rome with the Mrs a few years back. Hibs badge on my Harrington. Lad at the desk smiles when he notices the badge, “Edinburgh Hibees” he states….I ask how he knows and he studied in Edinburgh and worked at Valvona for his keep, was a regular at ER. Still loves Scottish football to this day and knew about our recent form. From that moment he couldn’t do enough for us and I returned the favour with a proper over the top compliment to the manager about his service!
Maspalomas, Hibs polo on by the pool at the hotel, met a fellow Hibernian, originally from Leith, now based in Fife. Had a great blether. Just feels good to know you have a fellow Hibee nearby when your away for some strange reason.
London, was working down there until a few years back, walking down Wardour St to a particularly ***** work meeting….pass an Asian lad in full Hibs trackie walking on the opposite slide of the road. One of those did I really see that moments.

Was staying at a Universal hotel a couple years back in Orlando and got in the lift that had a young lad with a Hibs top on and his dad.
"Going down?" The dad says.
"Aye, like the Jambos" I replied much to their surprise and amusement.

Kind of related story.
Went up mount Vesuvius in 2012, there was a jambo in full regalia on the train we were on going there, hat,Wonga top, the works.
Wife made it clear I was not to engage[emoji16]
Arrived at the station and thought that was the end of the experience but imagine my disappointment when we trecked to the top to the platform where you could stand for photos only to find Johnny jambo had beaten us there.
It was only offset when his hat got blown off over the safety fence behind and into the void below.

Used to see a lot of Scottish people when I was living in Munich, mainly recognisable by their various football tops.
Often had a good laugh making cheeky comments about their various teams, as most of them presumed I was a local.

Sitting on a tour bus in Athens, couple of weeks after the 2016 cup final proudly wearing my cup winners cap.
Australian guy leans over and says to me!
Mate it's the first time I've been back to Europe in 30 years, and what's the first thing I see ?
A bloody Hibby with a winners cap on, he was a Jambo as well.😆😆
