We have all seen this term attributed to players in the past.
Do you think there is such a thing? How would you define it? Who is Hibs best example, from your past?

Yes
Water carrier
Des Bremner
Did not realise how much he did until after he left and there were huge gaps in our midfield and defence

Now, very much Christian Doidge. Does so much "unseen" work. In the past, John O'Neil.

Actually, it is a very important role within the team but because it's not leading up to a goal or a wonder pass, it often does get overlooked.
Although he was only our manager, Neil Lennon was a master at it, break up the play and pass the ball ten yds to a colleague and watch the game unfold from there. I doubt Lennon ever hit a long pass in his playing career.

I'm not sure whether it was unseen work or under appreciated but I'd say Kevin McBride. Was an important player in the good start we made under Yogi the the wheels came off the whole team and felt he suffered more than others.

I really liked McBride, he and Liam Miller ran the show for us for a while.
Not really sure where it went wrong.
I hate “unseen work” but I like “water carrier” and having someone perform this role well has often been the difference between Hibs being a decent team and being pish.

Would John O Neill fit in to this?

Won't be a popular choice but Paul Hanlon definitely falls in to the category of unseen work. We are a poorer side without him these days.

He’s one who I wouldn’t put into that category, everyone knew what he brought to the game surely.
