How do we fit them both in the team without taking away Boyles threat out wide?
For me Cadden has to play. He’s quick, can whip in a good cross and is clearly naturally athletic. But having him as wing back and moving Boyle inside a bit takes away from Boyles game.

It will nice for the manager to have options. At the moment we never seem to have a full squad to pick from

I thought Cadden really helped McGinn today which led to them both having good games. McGinn wasn’t so exposed and looked more comfortable as a result.

He also really helped Doig defensively when he moved over to the left

Don’t think it’s an issue.
If you play with a wing back like we did today you play Cadden. If we set up like we have most of the season, you play Boyle where he’s been playing and has been the best player in the league.

We’re a better team when we play 433 or 4231. It was a ridiculous decision to change the formation just accommodate Cadden.

Not unless we’re playing with a back three. Or could even be a case for him at right back. But not as a winger when Boyle is also on the pitch, not a chance.

Don’t think that’s why he done it.

Cadden should and, fitness provided, probably will take McGinns place within the back 4. Brings a bit more going forward and good athleticism. Not a slight on McGinn who has been decent enough this season but not at level he was last year.
I think today proves for me anyway that Cadden is no RB or even WB, he played much further up the pitch, especially when we went to 4 at the back and he moved over to the left. He's one of those players that can play in a variety of positions and look comfortable in each, could be a big player for us.

He played the majority of the game as a wing back and did well. If anything, I think today proves he’s not a winger as you’re not going to get that much out of him in the final third. One good ball to Nisbet but delivery poor otherwise.

Really happy to see Cadden back. Fits right in at RWB.

For me I’m the opposite, I think the 70 minutes or so he played at wingback today he was brilliant.
Lots of work rate, won the ball back and drove us forward with some Kung bursting runs.
Don’t think he has the final ball to play any further forward.
I think he’s perfect for that position and whilst Boyle is good at it, it’s a bit of a waste having him there.

Cadden showed today with his athleticism that he'd make a really good right back in a flat 4.
I think Klopp has just come out with similar comments in relation to Alexander-Arnold after Southgate said he should be playing in midfield.

I always remember the clamour for De La Cruz to play in midfield when we had Orman. DLC looked completely lost, couldnt play with his back to goal and lost his greatest attribute in running on to the ball on the overlap.
Great to have Cadden back and gives us real options on the right.

4-3-3 with Cadden as RB and Boyle RF, it means McGinn misses out but if you’re going all out attack that’s the way to go. For his first start back Cadden had a great game today.

I totally understand what you all say and I think the problem we have with him is he can play RB, RWB, RM, midfield and today he showed he can also play wide left. At the moment I don't know what Ross's preferred system is, we've played 433/4231 all season and today started 3412. If he plays 4 at the back he seems to prefer McGinn but with 3 at the back Cadden fits in nicely at WB, the players brought in are wide players like Mackay, Mueller, and we have Murphy, where do they play in a 3412 which is a narrow system, unless he wants us to switch between the 2. It's going to be interesting to see when we have everyone in place fit and raring to go.

I think he went with 3 at the back today because of no Murphy/MacKay.

Was impressed with Cadden today. Especially for his first game back after a long lay off. It would be good to try find a spot for him in the team somewhere but not quite sure our shape worked today, in the first half anyway

He matched them up and went with 2 attacking wingbacks, it worked ok in the 1st half but we lost that 1st 30 mins and we had to change things, I was surprised Cadden lasted so long but Ross said before the game that he's a vet naturally fit guy.

You start with Boyle and work from there. Boyle has been sensational for weeks - arguably our most important players in a good run. Mess about with that at your peril. Cadden has been back for one game. He needs to fir around Boyler.
