What a great read in todays Scotsman.
If you want to know a wee bit about the Hearts just sit back, read and enjoy!
Sometimes words like sensational or bombshell are used way out of context but they wouldnt be lost in this little gem.
The so called big team will be boiling !!

That's a brilliant interview. It sounds like he's on great form and probably has stories to keep you going for hours.

He was my landlord for a while. I always paid my rent on time!

Had emigrated before Roy signed for Hibs but I remember hating ‘Nae Neck’ with a passion when he played for the other lot, and one memorable o.g. in front of the Cow Shed after he moved to the Pars.

Great bit about their reunion dinners being pompous and masonic - "We Are Heart of Midlothian".

Interesting article . I remember him playing for us ( a home cup defeat v Celtic for example ) though I remember him mainly as a Dunfermline player when they had a great team winning the cup and doing well in Europe . Doesn`t seem to have been a manger after playing days .

I went to Italia 90 with Roy and his sons and I still keep in touch with him and Jane on Facebook.
He has stories all right!

And them having a superiority complex. So true.

If only we had signed him from them, my dad came across Roy when he was playing for Musselburgh. Remember my dad's comments when we signed Jim Black that it was Roy Barry we needed. Great read. Roy mentions Neil Martin, Neil has some fantastic stories as well. Spoke to Neil in the passing one day was still there an hour later.

Standing in a circle round the club crest drawn on the floor
Chanting and throwing their Rover car keys into the middle.

What a great read that was.
The 'we are Heart of Midlothian' line is a classic.

Brilliant read , can mind him playing for us , an old fashioned centre half who when he tackled someone if he got the ball it was a bonus .
Thanks for posting

Great read. Was there not a story that Roy had some involvement with the sex industry? Could only add to his recollections!!

There was a great photo either on Twitter or Facebook a wile back (might even have been on here) and it was a mid-late 70s Hibs squad having a cup of tea somewhere and Roy Barry looked like he had bumped into them on his way home from a club! Cant find it just need to settle for a mugshot....:greengrin

Great interview and comes over as a top bloke. He certainly toughened us up in the time he was here. Can't remember the opponents but do recall him planting his forhead firmly on the back of an opponents napper and the ref not seeing it.

I was too young to see him play and had never really heard of him but what a brilliant character he seems to be. Loved the bit about his fridge - I'm off to do the same 😃

Great days. You could see world class players on a Saturday afternoon for pennies. Or for nothing if you got a lift-over!

I recall a game at Ibrox while Roy was with Hibs. Rangers kicked off. One Rangers forward tapped the ball to another to kick off. Roy came steaming through from the edge of the centre circle and kicked the receiver straight up in the air. He then walked up to the referee, with his hands folded behind his back, and visibly said “ Roy Barry” before the man in black had time to fumble his book out of his pocket (pre yellow card days, I think!). The seethe if that were to happen now [emoji50]
