Must say I’m surprised as this one.
30 years old, not been great this season and unlikely to get any minutes. If we play a 352 I highly doubt he will be right wing back.
Thought Rooney or Ramsay might have been in with a shout given their age and form.

Well done to Paul but not so sure it’s been deserved on his recent performances this season.
Surely would’ve been better calling up the young lad from Aberdeen or Ralston from Celtic who’ve both started the season really well?

Was a cool head most of last season and rarely made a mistake. Needs to try and regain that form but the lack of competition and fit players means he's having to stick out what is hopefully just a rough patch.

Gives a good depth to the squad, can cover two positions, clearly there are some injury niggles with some players, but it will be good for him and he is the right back in the best team in Scotland at the moment :greengrin

Rooney looks flawed to me.
Ramsey is very good going forward and can cross the ball. Don't know how good he is as a defender but he looks like the future, fighting it out with Paterson. He is in the young squad who are also playing on Tuesday.
As for McGinn, this will be a nice boost for him especially given he can spend time again with his enthusiastic brother.

Issue may be Ramsay is with Under 21s and he will have him heading to Turkey. Paul has been with the squad and Clarke probably wants someone he knows and trusts rather than getting new guy in. Assume will be cover however a little strange as Patterson and O'Donnell still there.

And O’Donnell hasn’t played for weeks after picking up Covid. He might struggle to last 90 minutes.
Reading that McLean, Patterson and Fraser are all out
Steve Clarke did say afterwards that about 7 or 8 players had knocks so presume they were 3 of them and the rest are okay.
Well done to Paul McGinn and good luck. Hope he gets some time on the pitch.

Congratulations Paul, well deserved. I was at the game against Livi and thought he played well. We need experience for tomorrows important game not a young, even if talented, player. Paul won’t let us down and can even contribute to the attack if given a chance.

If you're only as good as your last game then he's very good.
McGinn has been excellent for us and but for some rotten defending at times from Gogic our defensive record this season would be pretty spectacular.
That said, it's a big shout taking him ahead Ralston, who has a lot more of his career in front of him and has supposedly been excellent for Celtic.

We need to play a right back against austria, none of this left footers at right back carry on. Ralston should have been in to start IMO. Clarks a donkey.

Have to admit I'm surprised by this, if it wasn't for Gogic he probably would've received a lot more flack, but if he can regain last season's form he certainly wouldn't be the worst choice.

That's now seven Hibs players away on international squads this week by my reckoning: McGinn, Boyle, Doig, Gogic, Mackay,Scott and Nathan Wood. Have I missed any? Chances of them all coming back unscathed?

There's the risk of injury on one hand, but I'd be very happy to see Gogic, Mackay, Scott and Wood actually getting time on the pitch for their respective international teams. They'd be stronger for it.

Gave him a lot of well deserved praise last season, but there are others more deserving of the call up this time round. Had a poor start imo.
Ralston at Celtic deserves a shot, looked good every time I’ve seen him so far, watched their home leg against AZ Alkmaar and he was outstanding.

Like others have said, i felt he was back to his steady self last time out against Livingston. He obviously had a bug or something against Dundee as he was vomiting before kick off. Wasn't surprised to see him come off. This will give him a huge boost.

What's all this Ralston chat? Celtic's defence is an absolute car crash. If a young lad was going to get a chance i'd much rather it was the boy Ramsay at Aberdeen. Looks the real deal.

Some very odd reactions to the call up of Paul McGinn. Of course, some on here have already decided that he is a poor player not good enough for Hibs. The very best of luck to Paul McGinn I say. Prior to the Caldwells I think the last brothers to play together for Scotland were Hibs' Davie Shaw and his brother Jock who played for Rangers back in the 40s/50s.
