Given we didn't manage to get a backup striker, are these two ready for at least some sub appearances? Both very highly rated.

Laidlaw wasn't even in original squad. No sign of Josh O'Connor or Connor Young. It was ever thus!

Josh is 17, don’t when the cut off date is for under 17’s

Could Laidlaw make the stepup to first team level this season?

Sounds very promising that.

He is 16 and built like the gable end of a crisp so suspect it will be another 15 months before there are any thoughts of playing him in the first team.
Josh O'Connor is a year older so we could see him stepping up to start in next seasons pre season friendly's.

Folk on here like Billy Whizz will be able to give a more nuanced and more accurate reply as to the readiness or otherwise of both players.

FWIW Josh's dad made his Hibs debut at 18 but he was a very strong kid so not expecting these kids to step up before that.

If Laidlaw keeps developing and improving he has a chance of first team football this season. O'connor from what I've seen is a fair bit behind.

Sure O’Connor has been scoring more goals for the under 18s recently compared to Laidlaw
