Sad day. Great drummer in a great band.:not worthI saw the following on twitter and it's kind of hard not to agree

"The onset of rock and roll maturity is measured in how many years it took you to work out that Charlie Watts was the coolest Rolling Stone. Everyone gets there eventually."

Sorry to hear he’s gone. I was lucky enough to catch him a few times over the years, most notably with Rory Gallagher, Jack Bruce and John Martyn at the Usher Hall in 82. Some band that.

Wow, what a band that would have been!

You have to respect Charlie Watts for a long and fantastic career. A great musician without doubt and one who eschewed the rock and roll lifestyle, all while keeping his true love - jazz - close to him. There was a great story about about him putting Jagger in his place, decking him one time. Apparently Mick had deigned to refer to Charlie as 'my drummer' which Charlie didn't take to kindly to!

Rest in Peace, Charlie Watts.

Not even up for debate.

Watts was the coolest because everything about him seemed effortless. There was no sense he was trying to be cool and that's coolness personified.

Is that Ian Stewart, ex of the Stones? If so, that whole band has now been reunited. :not worth

Ah, thanks for that, Curried. Remember at one time the Stones asked Rory Gallagher to join the band. Always felt that Rory was too good a front man for that though.

It is indeed Ian Stewart on the keyboard. Well spotted CWS.
