A very weird feeling tbh. I feel very confident we'll do it which is unusual away in Europe against decent opposition. We seem to be playing so much confidence now and our big players are performing. 2-1 Hibs.

Would start with the same team that played against Ross County. Can switch to two up front if required. They like a shot from outside the box so will need to be aware. Need to be clever in that heat.

I still think it’s in the balance as assuming there is more to come from them
But we are in good form and it’s about taking our chances when they come
Doubt we will keep a clean sheet so two goals will be needed

I also feel quite confident too which I’ve not felt before when it’s came to hibs playing away in Europe, at this round of a tournament anyway.

Have full trust in them. We need to take our chances like we did on Sunday. I’d also stick with the team that started Sunday.

Wouldn’t say I’m confident, but I’m hopeful.

Before the first leg I thought we needed to take a lead over. Still concerned that not doing that will be our undoing but I’m not exactly fearful of them. We will definitely create chance, can’t be as wasteful.

I believe that we are in with a very good chance of progressing on Thursday.

However, does anyone share my philosophical view that we are on the brink of something significant domestically and progression in Europe might hinder that? We may be better placed this time next year for all things Europe?

No, need to try and take the opportunity now. Depends how significant you are talking about domestically though.

Too often we end up with players trying to gel, trying to get up to speed or whatever once we reach these qualifiers. Not got that this season and we need to try and take advantage of that because it’s quite rare for us at this point in the season.

I don't share that view. We have a hard race for third domestically. I'm not that keen to get stuck into it. A European run is a welcome distraction. Hopefully it continues.

I agree. We fought hard to get into Europe and we should 100% try to make the most of it.

Tony Mowbray once said he could take or leave the UEFA Cup which confused the hell out of me. It’s the big reward for last season so we should be going hell for leather to reach the group stages and the ££££ that comes with it.

While I agree that the longer we play in Europe, the more our league campaign will suffer, getting to the groups would be special and would surpass anything we could do in the league. We’re not going to win the league, and very unlikely to get 2nd, so the group stages would trump anything else. It would also be the prize money that came with it and if reinvested properly (which we have shown to do pretty well recently), then we will have a bigger and better squad next season to compete on more fronts.

Talking about the game itself though, I’m not quite so confident as others. Certainly have enough quality to hurt them, but I think they will be a totally different team to last Thursday.

We are a better side than them IMO, I expected them to be a lot better but I thought they were poor even in possession, if we defend as a team and play the way we have been then I don't see any reason why we can't go and take 2 or 3 of them. Mon the cabbage.

I feel that the longer the team are in Europe the more they will learn and improve. Look at Boyle's improvement since he got involved in the international arena.
If we made the group stages the money could help us attract players.
I agree that the big downside is the number of games we would have but maybe we could add a couple of players in January.

Aye between their manager, players and fans they certainly hold themselves in high regard. Their recent European exploits are impressive when you look at them but I’d say all pressure is on them and like you say, I’m happy enough with that, tends to be when we perform at our best

That’s definitely true. I hope the first leg gives us the confidence to go there and play our game. I don’t think they’re a great team and if we have the same sort of belief we had against Asteras we can get a result over there.

Seems to be a habit that fans of Scottish teams in Europe, when they are drawn against less well known opponents, they underestimate them, whilst overrating their own abilities.

Will not be surprised if Rijeka win this evening.

Despite his relatively poor form recently I do think I'd have Gogic in tonight playing his Tasmanian Devil role just in front of the defence. But I wish he would go back to the shaved head look. The very sight of him bearing down on you is enough to make you turn back or rush into a poor pass. He's not been the same since letting his hair grow.

Agreed, but as I said it's better than a mid afternoon kick off.

It must have been hot when we got the draw in Greece a couple of years ago.

The heat will make it difficult but not impossible.

If we can score first I'm not sure they will handle it very well.

We have a very decent chance though they will be better I think. I was more responding to the message indicating Scottish teams under estimate other teams which I don't think is the case. I think if we go ahead they may struggle to deal with that. The heat is a concern that is for sure and bench will probably be important.

I think we'll need to play more conservatively due to the heat. If we go out high tempo for the first half hour but don't score we run the risk of running out of steam and being picked off later on.

Not sure whether we will find a place for Gogic which would be harsh on someone dropping out. Think.we will play the same team as first leg with the possible exception of Doig for Lewis. Absolutely vital we don't get slack in midfield in terms of picking up runners as get the impression it isn't a real strength of any of the centre mids. Huge game for the club and would be great to get through.

Gogic can’t play, he gives away too many daft fouls and their biggest threat is balls into our box. It’ll be a similar game plan to last week where it’s essentially a game of basketball, we have a period of the ball, then they do. It’s about staying compact and stopping crosses when they have the ball, and being quick and decisive and most importantly clinical when we do. First goal is big tonight.

First goal is important in any game. The team who scores first will win that particular game about 70% of the time and only lose around 11% of the time.

Frustrating we have injuries before a big game. Remember Sauzee missing from the first leg against AEK some years back.
