Having only just seen the highlights from yesterday it seems like he had a cracking game yesterday, any input from anyone who watched his whole performance ?!

Brilliant. Went past players all day with ease. Linked up very well with Doig.

Without doubt his best game for us. He looked sharp and constantly drifted past defenders like they weren't there. Almost scored a great goal but their defender made a great last ditch dive to block his shot. Just hope he stays fit now.

Exactly this.

Looked dangerous every time he got the ball.

Having Boyle and Murphy on each side really gives opposition teams problems. Both tricky and for the first time in a long time yesterday I felt we could break down a defence which sits deep.

With an improved midfield and better options out wide we are definitely playing well and for those who haven’t seen us live yet you will be impressed when you do.

His best game for us. I had him as my MOTM.

He was brilliant yesterday- glides past players with the ball almost glued to his feet - was deffo my MOTM yesterday and there were several candidates - another like Kyle who looks like he's now benefitting from a proper pre-season

The touch and turn where he nearly scored was nothing short of immense.

Murphy is a great player and I love the way he just seems to to get the defender wrong footed with the weight on one foot and he then goes the other way. Its great to watch and regularly creates space and a dangerous situation. Lets hope he keeps fit and he has been doing the necessary rehab to prevent against the regular hamstring issues he seems to have.

Overall I like the balance of the team now with yesterday being close to our best 11. Nisbet/Doidge is a tough call as each bring something different and tou can argue the case for either. Allan also a good option, but I am not sure he makes the starting 11 but is good to have as an option.

Biggest worry for me is defensive cover and also maybe a further back up striker option.

Very good game yesterday, I had my doubts thinking his injuries had regressed him but if he can keep fit and continue with that level of game, he'll be a huge player for us.

Very good player so two footed and must be an absolute nightmare to play against. The formation and width we are playing with including all midfield players comfortable on the ball and who compliment each other we now have so many different options which is great to see. Absolutely massive for us if he can stay fit as creates so much however you do have to worry about the knocks he will have to put up with if referees are as appalling as yesterday's imposter. If that is going to be the style of Mackays team up here he can gtf. You can just tell that they were encouraged to put an early cheap shot in and with an Arsenal player having a lunge tackle he should have been sent off for you do get the impression his emphasis was on an overly aggressive approach.

Stevenson had a very good couple of games there, but I thought Murphy looked much more comfortable with Doig bombing on.

He quite often deliberately dropped off and Doig's movement pulled them all over the place at times.

We were really potent down that side yesterday. And the other side. And through the middle.

It was great to watch, really.

He's just a super footballer. An assured first touch, great movement and plays with his head up. If he can just stay injury free, we'll have won a watch with his signing.

Was worried about him after the first couple of games but he was fantastic yesterday. If he can keep up that form we've, him and Boyle are going to be joy to watch. Add on Magennis, Allan, Nisbet, Doidge, Mackay and maybe Mueller and we're in for a very exciting season.

For me he's the only player we have who'll hold on to the ball and take it past opposition players. This alone means he offers something different to anyone else we have.

I presume you mean 'old school' dribbling, a drop of the shoulder and you've got a yard on the defender; as opposed to Boyle who is more direct and relies on speed?

Whatever you call it, you would hope he can pass on a few things to the younger squad members. Exciting to watch this season if him and Boyle can continue as they're doing.

He's here!

I've only seen the highlights too and like you I thought it looked like he was in superb form. Glad to see that confirmed by those who saw the whole game.

It seems we have gone from worrying about a lack of depth when it comes to creative players in the team to having a really good bunch of them.

He's a very good player when fit. Similar level to Boyle but with a different style.

Said it last season when he was getting stick from the usual doom-mongers, he’s a class player. He just needed to get to full fitness. He doesn’t have great pace but he can glide past players with the drop of the shoulder. He also has the Scotty Allan pass in his locker. Started the season very well, hope he can add a few goals. We’re lucky to have him.

Pretty much my view also was always a very good player just needed a run of being injury free. Gives a completely different dimension to the team. Will score and create loads when fit.

Reminds me of John Robertson (ex Forrest). He used to suck defenders in and drag the ball past them with his back foot, leaving them sprawling.

I love the way he drops the shoulder and drifts by, Michael O'neill style. If he can bring Saturday's performance more often he'll be a handful for any defence.

Murphy was outstanding, given a free role to drift across the front line. That helped Boyle who is normally double or triple covered and gave us a threat on both flanks.

Boyle is still our biggest threat but Jamie (in that form) takes our attacks onto a new level.

Only saw the 1st half on the Alba re-run but thought a big bonus for us is Murphy and Boyle swapping sides which they did at one point in the 1st half. Variety is the spice of life. I keep saying that to the missus too  but all she does is alternate between boiled one day, roasted the next, chips, mash, baked and sautéed.

I'm usually very critical of him but he was excellent. I wasn't sure if it would work down that side as Doig likes to get up the park and I thought they may actually get in each others way. However Murphy came inside, went deeper with Doig actually more advanced much of the time we had the ball and it meant Murphy influenced the game far more. It worked a treat and Murphy also worked really hard. I would still have some worries if the opposition were better though but Jack Ross can only be judged on that pairing and the way they played in the given match. He got it spot on and the players all played very well and looked well drilled and organised.

We are now seeing the team better balanced, with players now fit from injuries and all playing in their proper positions.

It's called team building, we've seen the manager make do with players having to play where needed at the time, not always fit and not always in their preferred position, but play nonetheless for the club and get them a 3rd place finish.

Now we see players fit, and playing well with the additions we clearly needed, but had to wait for the window to open.

Having two wide players as dangerous as we have is fantastic to see, and a midfield who close down and press like we do is giving our wide men the space to do their stuff.

Remember we have the yank to come in, we will sign others too, this is a good time to watch us play, we have a plan for progression as a club. :top marks

The old cliche here, but a fit Murphy is like an exciting new signing. Press on, wee man!

Guys a great footballer, pleasure to watch when he is on his game, I don't think we seen the best of him last season at all. Injury free and with a bit of a run I'm sure he will continue to shine.

I’d be looking to extend his deal by a couple years, takes him to 33 and that is old for a winger but he doesn’t rely on his pace to beat his man, he’ll still be playing very well in a couple years time. Bit of a risk given his injuries but I think he’s worth the risk.

Similar to Magennis i think he's needed a pre season and a wee while to settle in. Players are only human! We saw the same with Doidge and Newell. Really disappointed for Cadden as i think he would have been the same.

Murphy is a quality player, he doesn't need speed to beat a man. Glides past players with ease and never seems to be in a rush doing it.

Is it just me that thinks Murphy appears to have plenty of pace?

Obviously not the blinding Boyle type pace but he's no slouch whatsoever.

Certainly not slow anyway. Very quick feet, and doesn't seem to have an initial burst of pace, but once he gets in full stride he can cover a lot of ground very quickly.

Reminds me of Chris Burke. I think if he stays fit, he'd still do a job in to his mid 30s.

Although he doesn't play in the same position, he puts me in mind of Dougie Bell, certainly in terms of close control.

Silky player. Great game on Sunday showed off his footballing skills. Obvious football brain that steals a yard or two. Really really like Jamie Murphy.

Hes a fantastic athlete. He glides, Mcginn is the same. Both are quick and can sustain their top end speed. Josh Doig though is on a different planet speed wise.
