A lot of the time, the cliché, 'he'll be like a new signing' doesn't really work out as predicted. It couldn't be more true for Kyle Magennis though. A full pre season, playing through the middle, and being properly injury free is seeing him totally flourish.

Some excellent controlled football particularly in midfield where we look really balanced for the first time in a few seasons. JDH and KM provide energy, composure and a lot of skilful interchanging with Murphy and Boyle. We are also not limited to going down the right flank, and switch play well using the pitch. Doig makes a difference down the left side with his limitless energy and willingness to get past a man. Doidge led the line really well too.

Only tinge of disappointment is it took us 26 minutes to topple the Champions Elect Hearts from pole position :greengrin judging by the texts I got yesterday whilst enjoying a pleasant day in St. Andrews they won the league yesterday didn't they ? :cb:na na:

Hopefully Mackay gets up to speed soon enough and takes the pressure off him playing every week. I think seeing how a bit of time to bed in has helped players like Magennis goes to show it's worth having a bit of patience with Mackay particularly as he's still young.

Very good performance today, we took the foot off the pedal 10-15 mins into the 2nd half but understandable, many good performances but the 3 behind Doidge were exceptional, particularly Murphy as he put in his best performance since joining last year. I've been wanting us to play this system for a long time now and I'm delighted Ross has changed tactics and made us a more attacking dynamic team, the players seem to be enjoying the freedom to express themselves with the 3 attacking mids all over the place today, swapping positions at every opportunity. Long may this continue.

It wasn’t Callachan who fouled JDH at the start. It was the no 6 Paton. Dirty little squirt. He also ploughed into someone else not long after and was taken off at ht. Not sure at all how he escaped a booking.

I think Newell has been allowed more freedom having Doyle-Hayes and Magennis there, before he tended to sit far too deep and play the back/sideways pass all too often, he was much more on the front foot today and he plays far better going forward, long may it continue.

Yep can be a huge player this season linked up really well with Doig and Magennis in particular. Quality player just need him to play and be fit every week.

Posted a couple of times whilst at the game yesterday. Was impressed with the performance, especially first 40mins. Proper Hibs that.

Was amazed to see posts saying Jack Ross is the best manager in Scotland after the game though, especially after last season. We have played two league games so far!
