It certainly didn’t look the best combination after Newell returned from his injury last season. On today’s evidence it’s not improved any.

We have had worse but he needs a SJM type alongside him doing dirty work. Gogic sometimes does that but as we know in Scotland and derbies you need more.

Summer comes and goes, new season starts and you get behind the team but my concerns haven't disappeared.

Hanlon is a million miles out of position for the first goal. Both goals scored by players you would expect to be dangerous at set pieces and crosses and yet we are miles from them.

Hard to know what to think of that.

Pretty frantic pace, my brain is a bit frazzled by it all.

We look pretty dangerous going forward, getting the ball into decent enough areas but being a bit wasteful when push comes to shove.

The less said about the defending for the goals, the better.

I'm not pretending to be all that impressed but I can't pretend to be all that surprised either.

I still feel we've got good players on the park and on the bench, and this game is there to be won.

But to do so we need to improved in EVERY area - to defend better, to create better, to take chances better.

Magennis is going to be part of the answer to the midfield issues but Gogic and Newell are going out of their way to make it look like they are not.

This could go almost anywhere from here.

It's a shame for him he can't get a bit of help from VAR to get the biggest decision of the game right, and you'd forgive a ref for getting that wrong in real time. It's easy and obvious with all the replays but it's not always like that in real time.
