Hi Guys,
I have three tickets for tonight's game in my name as i ordered online. I've just seen the email from the club saying we need ID.
Assume the ID needs to match the tickets and if not the TO needs to amend the names?
Any help appreciated. Tried to call the TO but line is busy.
Thanks!

cannot see you getting your ID unless you get a jobsworth of a steward.
folk i know who went to arsenal last week did not

The fact that tickets only have the surname of the person that booked them on them means this id requirement is bollocks.

completely agree bud but there is always one jobsworth steward out to cause issues
I only have my passport or old works ID but will have to carry it along with my phone and keys as we arent allowed bags. All seems very odd. Hoping the weather changes so I need a coat with pockets :greengrin
I dont actually understand what the ID does. Proves that my face and my name are the same but that's not so true with my passport pic! It's like something from Usual Supects :greengrin I'm not sure what they gain from it.

Had the same problem at the Arsenal game. Spoke to a supervisor, who understood the issue and waved us through. Tried to avoid it for tonight by visiting (closed) phoning (busy) and emailing (no response) the ticket office. Will take along both IDs and my email and hope for the best.

How does that work? I assumed there would be a QR code to check in? I know I'm being thick here. A steward looking at my ID and seeing it matches my face helps how? I'm not against it by any means just being curious to the reason for it.

Yeah just showing it will be fine, you don’t need to give it to them.

A bit unfair, no? Plenty of normal people working for G4S just trying to earn a living.

Just seems a bit odd. Fans are meant to be socially distanced yet they supposedly want fans to get close enough to a steward for them to check the ID.

But there's no other way to get the food to you in a restaurant than someone handing it to you, yet with this Hibs already have the information. All seems abit OTT.

As they are trusted in the security and stewarding business and you don't trust them suggests that you are the problem 🤔😉

Yeah but the point being the risk is no greater so not really an issue, ID not checked at Arsenal game for many so no consistency with this check.

I understand that but we are constantly told it's about minimising risk where possible. It's not possible to do it in a restaurant. It is possible tonight as Hibs have the information already.
Anyways I'm sure it will be barely enforced so not worth anyone getting worried about it.

Do we still use G4S? Thought it was a firm from Livingston.

Not sure what any ID would be checked against. You could legitimately have your own surname or it seems perhaps even someone else's surname on the ticket if bought together. So any check could only be that the person with a ticket is the same as the ID they may be asked to present and that in most cases they share a surname with the person on Hibs’ database who secured the ticket.
Such vagueness sounds like the result of either poorly thought out rules or their inability at short notice to be worked into the existing processes - like inserting the full name for each person on each ticket. This is fans on a database buying a ticket to actually go and watch their team rather than where there is a significant risk of folk buying tickets for an event to sell them on at great profit so changing the identity of the person attending. Any ID check seems needless and its inclusion may be a tick box/going through the motion exercise required to get consent to have fans in. I can see it being at best superficially checked.

Its a contrived meaningless rule that just was made up by someone at the cooncil or at Hibs to feel like they were doing something useful.
No one failed to get in at the Arsenal game as it wasn't enforced simply because if you buy tickets as a group then its just the one name.
Have an explanation ready for the Steward if you are asked and you are fine.

Dunno. Just repeating what the steward supervisor told me when I queried it. Suspect there is very little chance of T & T working, particularly in this environment.

Is the ID not if you have to do paper track and trace instead of scanning the code?

Me too. One of their meter readers demanded access to my meter and tried to walk past me into my house.
When I said it was an inconvenient time he wanted to know why and for what reason !
To be fair his manager rang to apologise when I complained but did not say how this came about.

He won't be able to see your face anyway as youll be wearing a mask!
Its utter nonsense, same ID requirements were in place for Euros, I didn't take ID, and wasn't asked for any, at either the Hampden games, or at Wembley.

Makes you feel sorry for the folk that work as stewards to earn a few extra quid on minimum wage and then find themselves having to deal with backside-holes like Sammy.

Oh I hadnt even thought about that. Makes it even dafter. I wonder if it was part of the council's conditions? Doesnt matter I'll have something with me anyway but it seems very odd and unnecessary.
I'd actually forgotten we got our bags searched , I'm old and it's been a long time since we were at games. I understand why we are asked not to bring them or make them clear now it was pointed out but IDs still seem odd

For gigs these days you are often told that the person who booked the tickets needs to show photo ID upon entry as a way of clamping down on ticket touts.

I’ve been to loads of concerts including the likes of Blur on their comeback show at the Barrowlands and never been asked this yet. I also know of someone who went to see Ed Sheeren and they were knocked back as someone else had bought them!

Ed Sheeran did a lot of work to stop the ticket touts and scalpers and quite rightly in my opinion.

Yeah, We went to Ed Sheeren. Saw 100s of people getting turned away, including some kids who were in tears. Wasn't a a pleasant sight at all.
*Then had some a... in our section boo all night and sing oasis songs before he finally got chucked out. His poor Mrs was mortified and kept apologising to everyone.

Muse at the Barrowlands needed ID, can't think of any others but my days of going to big gigs are diminishing so it's possibly down to that.

Which is fine in that case however my ticket for tonight doesn’t have any name on it so what is the ID being compared against?
