View Full Version : Scottish Police Woman Followed by 'Drone'

A Scottish Police Woman from Glasgow apparently saw a light in the sky that was following her obsessively after she left work at her police station. She drove for miles and it was still following her.

She pulled in to the Glasgow Fort shopping centre, parked her car and looked up to the sky... it was still there. In a panic, she phoned 101 and was told to return to her Police Station immediately.

She was met in the Car Park by a senior officer, where she pointed to the light in the sky, which the colleague confirmed was.... Jupiter, roughly 365 million miles away.

Defence Lawyer cross examining a police officer and questioning how he was able to recognise the suspect at night,

Officer, how far do you think you can see in the dark?

On a clear night I can see the moon.

Plod really is at an all time low. Surely you need a tiny little bit of intelligence to join the force. Was she charged with wasting police time, she should have been

I would imagine the p*** taking she will endure for months will be plenty punishment.

Behave yourself.

She made an embarrassing and stupid mistake. Would you want her to be charged if she worked in Tesco or is it just because you don't like the job she does?

She'll probably get promoted.

Still employed full time hunting down Hibbies after the Battle of Hampden all those years ago.

150 odd people a year were charged with wasting Police Time in 2018/19 and over 100 convicted. Admittedly most of those were out of self gain or for malicious reasons but I am not sure rank stupidity is a defence and the result of that stupidity is the same as those wasting police time for other reasons. I would want her treated the same as every other citizen. If any citizen has been charged with similar then I would want her to be.

Most of all I would want her employers to think if she can be so stupid and can flap at something like that is she really in the right job. She has the power to wreck someone's life with misjudgement and lack of common sense and awareness and if she can mistake a planet which is seen for much of the year for a drone then I think she is capable of some very poor decisions.

Police time amounts to a 101 call and an officer meeting her in the police station carpark. The procedures needed to charge her would waste more time that that, and they almost certainly wouldn't result in a conviction.

And I take it that you also want every traffic cop sacked when they reverse into a bollard at Tesco? After all, if they can't spot a bollard how can they possibly have the judgement to respond to a high speed chase.

We all make mistakes, some of them stupid.

Edit: I made a mistake despite being a grammar nazi. See, we all do it.

Whilst those who waste police time SHOULD be punished, I don’t think we should put too many deterrents in the way of people who might genuinely feel under threat from coming forward.

She made an arse of it. She’ll get the piss taken, hopefully she’s good natured and resilient enough to take that. Should be end of story.

Nazi should be capitalised should it not.

No, I would see that as something that is fairly easy to do. I think most people will know of someone who has made a bit of a careless error like that. I doubt many of us have mates that have mistaken a planet for a drone though and then compounded that by thinking it was following them.

I'm clearly a minority of one so I'll step out and in any case I'm getting a bit worried as there is someone shining a very powerful torch through my window and they appear to be moving clockwise and also gaining height. The only explanation is it must be some kind of trouble maker in a helicopter. They also appear to be having battery issues as the light dimmed for a few seconds so that must indicate their batteries were running flat but they have put some new ones in now. They have been at it since just before 5am this morning!! I'll give 101 a bell just to be on the safe side as there can be no other explanation that someone who is dangerous targeting me.
