I noticed on the Raith PPV site that it said - "RaithTV Live is our matchday video and audio streaming service. During COVID-19 restrictions, we are able to offer pay-per-view video streaming of home matches within the UK (as well as internationally)."

I just wondered what regulations were allowing them to do this, and which, presumably, would prevent them from doing this if there was no Covid?

It just seems to me that it would continue to be a useful income stream for many clubs.

It's a relaxation of the tv contract is it not? Normally such transmission is prohibited. Relaxed during covid.

Totally agree.

Not sure about the lower leagues, but pretty sure regardless of restriction there's a further agreement with Sky for the Scottish Premier League teams to continue the streaming of games this season.

Hope it just becomes the norm as it means I can catch every away game through the PPV option and gives the teams a source of income.

In the UK games can't be broadcast between 3pm and 5pm on a Saturday. Games from any country at any level.
That's the rule which has been relaxed

Is it a Bollox rule or not.

Obviously clubs want bums on seats, but I read the Dutch offered all games available at any time on PPV and their attendances went UP!

I mean, I’m in the South West of England. There would be no problem allowing fans like me to buy a PPV season ticket.

I won’t be going to all the games anyway and when I’m up I’ll go to the game no danger.

Yea, but says who? Surely not a law is it? Or UEFA/FIFA dictat or what?

Yea, but says who? Surely not a law is it? Or UEFA/FIFA dictat or what?Pretty sure it's part of the TV contract the leagues signed up to.... break the rules then don't get paid.

OK, thanks.

Mind you if it was me I'd be looking to renegotiate that - assuming that the PPV income was greater than the TV deal that is.

It wouldn’t have thought it would be. There will be costs associated with doing the PPV as well.
