All is well with the world.
I have just obtained my copy of the 2021-2022 edition of The Wee Red Book.
I had nothing to read last year as it was not published for the first time in 92 years.
In desperation I registered on .net and found that we live in “interesting times”.
From a Hibs point of view on page 109 there is a picture of the Scotland squad that faced Wales in October 1956.
From the picture I can identify two Hibs legends.
I am completely hopeless as far as IT is concerned and haven’t got a clue how to transfer the picture to this thread.
If someone with the required knowledge who has a copy of The Wee Red Book can transfer the picture.to the thread, can anybody identify the two Hibs heroes and any other players in the picture.

I don't have the Wee Red Book but the players in question are Tommy Younger, who played for Liverpool at the time and Lawrie Reilly.

Is it still 50p?
Probably about 45 year ago since I had one.
Maybe sixpence when I first had one?

It used to have the names, addresses and phone numbers of junior football officials.

I last bought it in 1979 ahead of the 79/80 season. Hibs got relegated. So I never bought it again. Superstitious, who, me?

Think I last bought it in the early 90s from John Menzies in Princes Street when I was up on my Summer holiday.

Amazed to hear it still gets published. Does TV rescheduling not play havoc with its pre-printed fixture lists?

Can remember buying the Wee Red Book regularly through the 50s (and 60s) for a tanner. Always looked in several newsagents back then to ask "Is it in yet" weeks ahead of when it was due out. Haven't bought one for years but think I'll get one this time around.

They were always handy back in the day for a pub argument. I remember Jinglin Geordie having one behind the bar back in the day.

I bought it year in year out and always dreamed of getting one with a picture of Hibs with the Scottish Cup.

Never seen one for the 2016-2017 season and it wasn't for the lack of trying

Guaranteed SDG would be holding the cup aloft in glorious black and white

Just checked my collection and 2016/17 is missing

Have the 2016/17 edition and SDG is holding the cup aloft in the middle pages in glorious colour.

Also on page 99 picture of Liam Henderson and Jason Cummings celebrating with The Cup.Jase looks like he’s giving The Cup a good snog.

Think if you go to the various Wee Red Book websites you can acquire back editions.

Costs £3-50 now. Still a bargain IMO.

Yes - there was. It was an essential purchase that one, simply because it had us winning THE cup in it.

Well - almost true. Yes - it was eventually published but not until September 2020 - much later than usual. When Covid hit, the ET did contemplate not publishing it for the first time in 92 years but changed their mind.

In previous years the only place I could find it was in RS McColls in Kirkgate Mall.

For this year I ordered direct from The Evening Times.£3.50 no postage or packing.

Something of an institution at one time. I have a few of my grandfathers from the 30s and 40s. One of them is blue!

Many thanks - will give them a visit tomorrow. I’ve got them for many years and wanted to get my grandson his first one. Bought him his first Hibs kit last Saturday and had a lump in my throat when we had our first kick about with him wearing it. He’s also got an Aston Villa one with number 7 on the back so looks like I’m bringing him up ok!

McColl’s in the Kirkgate had a couple on their shelf late Wednesday afternoon.

It is on sale online at http://www.glasgowtimes.co.uk/shop

Probably have to pay postage though.

You’re welcome,hope you get one.

You must be hoping that SJM stays at Villa. This could prove costly to you if he gets a big move.

Picked up a couple earlier today. They had none on display and girl said she had just sold the last on but young lad stacking a shelf said he was sure there were more in the back of the shop and returned with a handful.
As to John staying at Villa - if he moves Hibs get a huge financial boost but It will cost me another McGinn strip for my grandson - I can live with that for the team I’ve supported for 65 years!
