According to available information Hibs used the following in midfield last season

1) Daryl Horgan 2) Kyle Magennis 3) Drey Wright 4) Joe Newell 5) Alex Gogic 6) Stevie Mallan
7) Melker Hallberg 8)Stephen McGinn 9)Scott Allan 10) Chris Cadden 11) Jackson Irvine
12) Steven Bradley.

Take out Daryl Horgan and Stephen McGinn who are gone and add in recent signings Dan Mackay and
Jake Doyle Hayes the total stays at 12.

Martin Boyle and Jamie Murphy were listed as forwards but would include them as midfielders thus a total of 14.(Include Jackson Irvine until otherwise advised)

Add in young midfielders. such as Josh Campbell who is coming back off loan and the figure increases.

The question is who stays, who goes ?

A twelve-man midfield? A risky strategy, but one that might pay off!

Think it’s very possible Wright, Hallberg and Mallan will leave and it seems Irvine probably won’t be here either.

We need a total of 6 central midfielders and 3-4 wide players.

Cadden possibly used at RB more than midfield now SDG has retired

Wouldn’t disagree with you,but last season Hibs only used 3 central defenders and mainly had only two strikers available.
There’s been a trend for Hibs at transfer windows to stockpile midfielders.
They were fortunate last season that none of the central defenders or forwards sustained season ending injuries.Might not be so lucky next season.
Would rather see them strengthening back and front as midfield seems ok.

I'd like to see more of Bradley now that you mention him. I thought he looked promising in his 1 or 2 cameos (around Xmas time I think?)

I'm interested to see what Jack Ross' plan is for this year, stick with the 352 or something else? I think he's done a good job so far of fitting a formation and style of play around the players we have, this season I'd like to see him recruit players to play a formation and system that he wants to play.

Tbh we should have a squad of 22 with 2 players for each position and then add a few youngsters to cover any injuries.

With that glut of midfield players, you have to wonder why the midfield was consistently our problem area last season.

Agree, i went into the second half of last season arguing we'd sufficient cover in defence and attack but quickly realised I was wrong. I'm certain Ross also admitted that we should have signed a striker and he'd be looking to rectify that in future.

I'm certain we'll sign at least one other attacking option this window.

We should have played them all at the same time.

Do you not remember Jim Duffys team? We had a squad of about 100. One of the worst teams I've seen.

The number of players you have has no reflection on how good you are.

I think it was down to the balance, Murphy was injured quite a bit, or always coming back from an injury, so left side was filled by players not really capable of doing the job a wide left player should be doing.

Central we had Gogic who apart from a couple of weeks, was virtually doing it all himself because Newell strolled around like a show pony after agreeing his new deal, and Irvine flattered to deceive after a decent start.

We relied on Boyle way too much to create things, he just cant do it all the time on his own, he needs help from the others around him.

The midfield we had did make us harder to beat, but they did not create enough for me going forward, and left us short at times because we played 2 up front mostly.

If i had one wish for the coming season, it would be we have a fully fit Scott Allan available, as i do feel he is that something different, that player who can excite me and unlock defences with his guile and precision passes.

If anything, it works the opposite way because the wages budget is spread so thinly that none of the players can be on a high wage which results in a lack of quality.
