I think he’s a very good player domestically and would have loved for Hibs to have signed him. I think he’s solid for Scotland despite being limited at international level. Think he suffers a bit in peoples eyes from not being Robertson or Tierney.
He was outstanding tonight. My MOTM, although difficult to separate any of them.

Fair play to the lad he took an awful lot of criticism from all quarters after the Czech game, it must have really hurt but he put in a great shift tonight.

I think it helped him having a bit more solidity behind him.
I thought Hendry was far worse than O'Donnell on Monday and it appears Clarke felt similar. You know what you are getting with O'Donnell. He isn't close to the same league as the guys on the left but he's a steady Eddie type and has rarely let Scotland or his clubs down.

He played fine on Monday. Didn't have great support but largely nullified their threat down their left
Tonight he was phenomenal
He plays for motherwell, a bottom six side. The heart of a lion (rampant)

No he didn't. He was terrible on Monday.
But he was Great the night. Deserves to start on Tuesday, which I wouldn't have said 4 hours ago.
Well played sod.

Outstanding tonight.
I didn’t think he was great on Monday and it was a big call to keep him in the team. It paid off and I’m delighted, as he’s a player who has never let Clarke down and he deserved a bit of loyalty.

Excellent tonight and has been good in most games for Scotland.
He reminded me of Alan Hutton and I would love to see him get a good move to a team in England.

dont think he was excellent at all, got caught wrong side the only time England looked dangerous, steady enough for a bottom six side, but international class??no thanks, folk getting carried away with a draw, he is ordinary

You need to get a new set of eyes…he was excellent last night..matched anything they threw at him, and contributed a lot going forward. Can be very proud of his performance level .

He played well, like the whole team. I suspect because he was starting from a pretty low base his performance is probably being abit over egged but he done well last night.

I meant from an opportunity to earn a decent contract at the age of 29. He's never played for any of the top teams in Scotland so will be on quite a low wage.
A move to a Championship team will surely give him the opportunity to earn some decent money.

I'm sure I mentioned something like "can you imagine Raheem Sterling up against Stephen O’Donnell" as if that would be a negative. Back to my post about hoping SO'D earns a big money move, just think about the relative wages both players earn. Sterling must get paid weekly what SO'D earns in a year.

Sterling probably makes more like 2 or 3 times in a week what Stephen makes in a year.

I know I did. It was the matchup that worried me most.
Another one, Grant Hanley vs Harry Kane. It’s hard to believe, had him in his pocket all night, subbed off looking humiliated.

Has been available on a free twice in last 12 months. Really got to question why no one took a chance on him and he's had to stay at Motherwell. I'd have took him.

I just had a wee look, Hanley is actually on a decent wage, £25k a week at Norwich, but even then that’s one tenth of Kane’s salary.
I will also admit that I was disappointed to see O Donnell start and I’ve never been a fan of Hanley.
SOD was outstanding but Hanley was even better. My MOTM

Unfortunately It'll only shut them up until the next time he has a below par performance.
Not good enough.... out of his depth...... blah blah blah, they'll be back.
I don't understand why they just can't get behind the team and trust the players Clarke picks, we all get he's not world class but last night proved he's a vg player.

Exceptional last night.
As good s any other player on the pitch.
Playing at the limit of his ability.
That is the best thing you can say about a player.
I thought Hibs,Aberdeen or Hearts would have picked him up before he signed his new contract at Motherwell a couple of months ago.

He was poor against the Czechs though, but earned all the praise he got last night.
Maybe it was just nerves in the first game, which would be understandable.
I wish we’d signed him years ago.

Great performance from him. Billy Gilmore had around a 91% pass accuracy last night, I would like to see O'Donnell's pass accuracy stats as I can't remember any misplaced passes.

Gilmore was 20/20 at one point before a difficult slide rule through ball was broken up by Mings (who actually had a decent game I thought).

I think the o'Donnell situation sums up the way people, especially online, react to performances. One good game you're a world beater, one bad game and you are rank. The reality is somewhere in between. Even steve clarke commented on the negative effect this can have on players. I know this will probably never change but i wish people could take a breath before commenting.

You're correct & it was summed up really by SOD's 1st touches in the 2 games. On Monday, he got the ball caught between his feet & knocked it out of play, he looked really nervous after that & had a poor game. Last night he surged to the bye line & delivered an excellent cutback for Adams, you could almost see the confidence growing in him after that & he was excellent. Well done Stephen!

Delighted for him, fed up with it becoming increasingly trendy on social media to slate players after a few bad performances. Hope he feels very smug today

I found his interview after the game pretty emotional & also shows what a great man manager Clarke is. The comments, the abuse all of it aimed at a someone just trying to to their best for their country. Hope some of the keyboard warriors realise theres a human being at the end of their messages.

O’Donnell was really really good against England.
It doesn’t change my opinion on how good a right back he is though. I don’t think he’s too good for Motherwell.
But that must just mean I’m a keyboard warrior.

No that means you have an opinion with reasoning. I’m talking about people who just abuse without reasoning, thought or a care of how the person targeted is effected by it.
Why are you making this about you?
