Really sad news. In a way I hope it was an accident and not 'dirty campers'

Huge fire destroys the Scottish Crannog Centre. The living museum offered a unique insight into Iron Age life. https://t.co/MyEvwUNNnA https://t.co/BvbVet0X9j

That's a horrible thing to happen and especially devastating for those who put so much work into it. As you say, hopefully (for want of a better word) accidental.

Really sad hearing about this - remember being fascinated by the visitor centre as a kid.

It's not even about the cost of rebuilding but the unbelievable effort which went into creating it in the first place.

That's sad. I found it very interesting when I visited a few years ago and had planned to visit again this summer to see how it had developed. I hope it can be re-created.

Awful news.

The work it takes to create these things is a real labour of love. I feel so sorry for all the people who have spent years developing such a brilliant site.

Gutted to read that, so much effort and love went into it

Was there a couple of years ago. Really interesting and the staff were really engaging. Funnily enough part of the experience is to actually make fire.

Different fire, but a pretty awful case of arson:

I've no idea what the guy's like but to react in such extreme fashion (to some admittedly pretty devastating news) suggests some sort of mental destabilisation.

In America he would probably just have gone on the rampage with semi-automatic weapons.

Absolutely disgusting. Mental health obviously to blame for alot of these incidents, but still a scunner and hard to comprehend

Why do you say that / what is it based on?

It's an assumption so could be far wrong, but would assume a decent proportion of people who burn down buildings have some mental health issues.

The Findhorn foundation fire was a disgruntled former employee. Vandalism is not all about mental health issues.

The dark sky observatory fire is so far only suspicious, nothing know yet while investigation is ongoing.

I've been disgruntled at work many a time, I've never thought about burning the **** down ha. I'd say he wasn't the full shilling, the kind of cat in America that would pick up his colt and go to his ex work

Vandalism makes it sound like he wrote ylt on the wall, arson
