New season fixtures due out on Tuesday morning

You always look out for the derby dates. I’m presuming we’ll be away to Hearts in the 1st set of matches, and be at home for the New Year Derby, as it was the opposite last time

Assuming we finish top 6 and they finish bottom 6 would that mean just one home derby?

I assume our first game of the season will be away so Hearts can ‘unfurl’ their Championship flag.

Guessing even if there are crowds there won't be away fans for a while, so hopefully the first derby is early on so home advantage is diluted somewhat.

If we finish above them next season I think that will be 10 years since they finished above us in the Premiership

If the process runs true to form then the Ne’r Day derby is almost always away for us. It’s a long time since it was a given that it would alternate year on year.

Wouldn’t home advantage be strengthened by no away fans?

Apart from when we were in the Championship

I'm banking on there being no away fans either way for the game at Tynecastle, so if it's early on there's less home fans too.

That’s correct. 11/12 was the last time we both competed in the top tier and they finished above us with them 5th and us 11th.

They could not be better for Hibs. 21 pts from the first 7 games or ROSS OUT.

Dundee Utd away on Boxing Day should be a good trip. Fond memories of a great atmosphere and a thumping win on the 27th in the Mowbray days.

The fixtures have landed favourably to us but then again it’s Hibs and no game is a guarantee. But we have a great chance to get off to a great start.

Rightly or wrongly the first derby so important to Ross.

I think he would have preferred it to be at Easter Road.

Still waiting for boards across Scotland to show some backbone and tell the authorities they want full crowds from July the 31st, as will be probably be the case down south and certainly will be across most of Europe

Might take them up on that offer, quite a few Hibees in their squad

I'm surprised that they're allowed to do this. Given the number of part-time teams in the league that has to be pretty inconvenient for the visiting sides.

I wonder if part time teams ever have any bother getting teams together for midweek evening games? Guys unable to get down from Elgin after work for example.

If they do then I wonder if that’s came into ECs thinking..

The article in the EEN is sketchy but says that the other teams in the league approve.

I would have thought it far from ideal for the likes of Stranraer or Elgin. Even if their guys can get off work in time, they're surely going to be less well prepared than for a 3.00pm kick-off on a Saturday.

It will only affect other teams twice a season. Not forgetting a lot of players are maybe working closer to Edinburgh than their home club is.

BBC has two game against Celtic and one against The Rangers before the split. It's always an even split versus the Old Firm, every non-Old Firm team always play one twice at home and the other once.

Other teams may only be affected twice per season, but Edinburgh City will be gaining that wee advantage time and time again.

Is that not what home advantage is supposed to do? 😉

Is it any different from the clubs who have plastic pitches?
